Today I decided to do a manicure inspired by Monsoon clouds. Low, deep grey, spangled with different colours. Then they break up as the sun goes down and the stars peek out.
I used Jesse's Girl in Gunmetal (a polish I won in a giveaway :D). A medium grey jelly tightly packed with silver, blue and a little black shimmer. I applied three coats. It was easy to handle, even with my low brow painting skills, I had little cuticle flooding. The brush is a bit of a pain; the shaft is short, the handle is the bulky lid. But the bristles were pretty nice. Full and soft.
This polish was streaky as heck for the first two coats and trying to overwork it resulted in grab and drag. By the third coat, it was smoothing out nicely. I should probably have applied a fourth as I still have a little VNL, but I was in a hurry and didn't have a lot of time to keep applying polish. It dried swiftly and to a satin finish. Seche further smoothed and evened out the finish and added lovely shine. Cleanup was easy and quick, tho I did have to deal with the micro shimmer all over the place until I washed my hands. lol
I applied some stars sent to me by Viva La Nails. I did a line on my left ring and right index finger nails. I used a little Out the Door as "glue" and topped them with a couple of coats of Seche to anchor and smooth them down.
This is okay polish. The colour is pretty. But it is a lot of work to get there. I will use the bottle I have but I wouldn't buy another. This polish is thin on my nails and I don't expect this manicure to last too long. :)
As you can see, my nails are shorter. I really liked the longer length but was starting to have a little trouble with vertical cracking and a peeling spot and I already have a big patch on my right bird finger nail. (You can see the thickened spot in the photo of my right hand nails.) And I just didn't want more patches, right now. I was also finally able to square off my left thumb nail and wanted all of my nails more uniform in length. They will grow. And hopefully they will be even better, this time around.
Thank you so much for popping in. Stay cool and may your polish never bubble. :D
Ooopsie! Almost forgot... The nail art supplies used in this post were sent to me for consideration.
