Blue. With Sparkle

Hello gentle readers. An early Spring is springing in my neck of the woods and we are being treated to blue skies and temps in the low seventies. I fear that Old Man Winter is not yet finished with us. But I am enjoying the break, while it lasts.

My OPI DS Signature manicure finally went South. I had a couple of little cracks that needed attention so I decided a fresh polish job was in order. I considered doing something in green for Saint Patrick's day. Then I changed my mind and decided to wait until it was closer to that day and I did blue, instead. Blue with sparkle.

I painted my nails with Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Marine Blue then did my accent nails in OPI Simmer and Shimmer from their Burlesque collection. A simple look, to be sure but an old standby that never fails to delight me.

Rimmel Marine blue is a medium blue creme with a subtle shimmer and a touch of duochrome that in person shows some green and even a little grey. Unfortunately, the full richness of this colour doesn't show in my photographs. It was opaque in two coats. The formula was nice, flow-y but not too thin, thick enough to control easily. The brush is wide and rounded on the end, making application super easy. This brush practically set my gap all by it's self and applied the polish in wide, smooth sweeps. I had little cleanup.

OPI Simmer and Shimmer is a beautiful scintillating blue, pink, orange, gold and silver mixture that is largely blue in a clear base. This glitter applies easily and is so smooth to the touch. It isn't bumpy or grainy. It doesn't eat topcoat. I applied two thin coats to get shiny, shimmering, dancing sparkle.

I topped this manicure with a coat of Seche Vite.

I also did a little video, to show how shimmery and sparkly Simmer and Shimmer is. It is my usual bad quality. But I think it shows the beautiful sparkle and scintillation.

Mmmkay... I suppose it is time to wrap this all up. Boy, am I ever enjoying this warm, lovely day. The birdies are singing and my pets are all sprawled out, snoozing. I think that they like this taste of Spring, too.

Thank you so much for popping in, my dears. Have yourself a terrific evening and may your polish never bubble.
