Hello gentle readers.
Yesterday I showed you the bad and the ugly of polish and manicures. Today, I have the good to complete the triad.
This is Orly Royal Velvet. One of the polishes from their Spring Precious collection. This polish is a royal blue to purple duchrome with interior shimmer. The colour shift of this polish is nothing sort of magical. The colours are beautiful and really speak to me. I applied two coats and topped this manicure with Seche Vite.
I took so many photographs of this polish that my little camera started hollering at me and was about to go phone the authorities to report me for abuse. Sadly, only eleven of the shots even began to capture a trace of the beauty of this polish. I apologise in advance for not being able to get even close to accurately capturing this colour.
These shots are taken in direct sun and in dappled light. The shots taken in more dappled light show a bit more of the purple. In direct sun, this is all about the royal blue shimmer. *sigh* One day, I am going to be able to get a couple of white light lamps and build a light box. Maybe then, I can take better, more colour accurate photos of my beautiful polishes.
Okay, here come the photographs. They are, as always, clickable if you would like to make them big. You might get a bit more of the good stuff, if you do. :)
The formula of this polish is interesting and different for an Orly. It is thin, but can start feeling a little goopy, as you go along. The base is translucent, packed with the duochrome and shimmer. It applies pretty nicely, but trying to apply thin coats resulted in streaking and dragging. I learned pretty quickly to apply with plenty of polish on my brush. I had some cleanup but not too much and most of it was just fussbudget refining. It is amazingly easy to control, in spite of it being a bit runny. This polish dries nice and quick. Topped with Seche Vite, it dried even faster.
This polish is beautiful to look at, lovely to work with and it is making me very happy. If you like blue and purple and duochrome, you might really love this one. This polish is in wide release. I have seen it at Sally Beauty, Ulta and various online retailers.
Do you own this polish? If not, do you feel sufficiently enabled to go out and grab it? If so, my work here is done, for today. :D ^^
Okay, time for me to toddle along. Thank you so much for popping in. Have a great weekend and may your polish never bubble.
