Manicure of the Moment: China Glaze Trendsetter

Hello gentle readers. Check it it out! My Internet is up and running. For now... Grrr!!! If my ISP doesn't get this node fixed, soon I am going to have a right royal hissy fit. Unfortunately, said hissy fit wouldn't do me all that much good, since my Internet service is free, as part of my husband's benefits package with his company. It would feel good to vent my spleen about the spotty service lately, tho. lol

Anyway, before I got sidetracked bitching about my recently oh-so-craptacular Internet service, I was going to show you one of my latest acquisitions. China Glaze Trendsetter from their Fall Metro Collection. I wasn't planning to buy this polish. I wasn't all that thrilled with it in photographs I was seeing and it didn't really speak to me. I really thought that I had purchased all of the Metro polishes I wanted. Then I ran across this one at my local Sally's on the clearance shelf and well... I thought, what the hell? It's only two clams. If I like it, great. If not... No big loss.

Turns out, much to my surprise, I do rather like it. China Glaze Trendsetter is one of those odd duck ugly/pretty colours. You know the ones.Colours that, if in any place other than a polish bottle you would likely wrinkle your nose at the item and just walk on by. I almost did, when I saw this polish sitting, unloved on the shelf with a big, red Clearance sticker emblazoned across it's portly belly. But I picked it up and I am glad that I did because this colour is really growing on me. This yellow green is slightly dirty and has a tinge of red in it, warming it up to keep it from looking like strained peas or something in a baby's diaper. (You moms know what I am talking about! How many times when my son was tiny did I have this colour splashed across my shirt? In my hair? lol) The beautiful, fine gold glass fleck shimmer elevates this to something kind of special.

The more I look at this polish on my nails, the more I like it. :D

Photos ahoy! They are of the clickable persuasion, if you are so inclined to enlarge them. Oh! This is two coats topped with Seche Vite.

Sorry about my reddish fingers. I had to boost the saturation a bit and that always gives me lobster fingers or carrot fingers. :P

China Glaze Trendsetter is a smooth, creamy crelly base with a fine gold glass fleck shimmer that can shift a tiny bit green, in some light. The formula is China Glaze fabulous. It applied like a dream, was easy to control and didn't make me pick up my cleanup brush very often. Dry time is excellent with this polish. With Seche Vite on top, I was able to dig in my pocket after shooting photographs and it was fully cured in less time than many polishes. Overall, this is a lovely polish and I am so very pleased with all of the China Glaze Metro polishes I purchased and own.

Do you own this crazy ugly/pretty polish? Have you worn strained peas in your hair or down the front of your shirt?

Thank you so much for popping in. I have lots of polishes swatched, just need to get to editing photos, I have more on deck, including more of my Birthday Week Haul (waiting on the rest to arrive in the mail) and some beauties that were sent to me for review and just today landed on my doorstep. I am so excited, these are my first review polishes. And oh are they ever pretty! I can't wait to splash around in them and share them with you! :D

Okay, I need to run. Have a great rest of your day and may your polish never bubble.

HAHAHA I can tell you I had my fair share of ... strained peas. :P Very glad those times are over, but I miss the little baby phase, at times. I need more feet to nibble on!

  4. Thank you, Carissakuo. It is a fact that some polishes suit us and some don't. It always breaks my heart when I meet a polish I just love and it looks like dog vomit on me.

  7. I just bought this color too at Sally's. I pretty much buy any color that is on sale there lol. I figure if I don't like it I can swap it or use it to franken. I thought the same thing when I bought it what it looked like something produced by a baby (not that I have one of my own but I've babysat before) but when I swatched it at home like I do with all my polishes I really liked it. It's amazing how polishes can look so much different in the bottle then they do on the nail. It is so pretty if you just give it a chance :)

  9. Nicole, great minds... :D It is strange to so like a polish that looks like something in a diaper, isn't it? lol

  10. Ravean, I am always delighted by the finds I discover on the clearance shelf. I have found some of my faves for greatly reduced prices. Love that! :D If you decide to have kiddos, strained peas will become quite a fixture in your life, both going in and coming out. Fun stuff, lemme tell ya. ;) lol
