Hello gentle readers.
I received a request from GosiaB to compare China Glaze Bizzare Blurple to some other similar polishes. I went and dug through my stash and found that I only own three other blurple polishes. Well, I have a fourth, Orly Mysterious Curse but that polish is a repromote of Orly Royal Velvet and since it is earmarked to be a giveaway prize in the future, it was off limits.
I swatched four blurple polishes on nail wheels and photographed them in my lightbox under my OttLight and out in the sun. From the left (as you are facing the screen) are:
China Glaze Bizzare Blurple, Orly Royal Velvet, China Glaze Want My Bawdy and China Glaze Tempest.
Bizzare Blurple has a blue to purple floating shifting shimmer in a blurple base. Royal Velvet has a reddened purple base with a strong blue shimmer and a hint of silver swimming through it. Want My Bawdy is a luster chrome with a gentle blue to purple shift. Tempest is a red toned blurple jelly with blue shimmer.
I hope that these photos are clear enough and show the differences and similarities well enough to be helpful.
Thank you for popping in and reading. Have a great day and may your polish never bubble.

oh my gosh, you're the best!!! THE BEST!!!!! thank you so so much!!!
ReplyDeleteand sadly I see I need Bizzare Blurple =))))
You are most welcome. Happy I could enable you. :D
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how it compared too, so thank you! I think Bizarre Blurple might be my fave of the bunch.
ReplyDeleteI'm droooooolibg over her!
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison. I love the Orly Royal Velvet.
ReplyDeleteAnd my collection grows ever larger while my bank account grows ever smaller. I may be homeless, but I'll be very stylish. ^^
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome. Bizzare Blurple is so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteShe's drool worthy. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) Royal Velvet is gorge, isn't it? If you can't find it, Orly Mysterious Curse, from the Dark Shadows collection is a repromote of that shade and is easier to find. In fact, you might get lucky and find it in the clearance section of your local Sally's or other store. :)
ReplyDeleteHee hee!
ReplyDeleteReally like the royal velvet!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this! I was going to avoid Bizarre Blurple because I thought it would be too close to Mysterious Curse, but now that I've seen them side by side, they seem very different. Guess I'll have to get it after all.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'd like to see is some greige comparisons. I've considered getting OPI's classic You Don't Know Jacques, but I'm not sure how it compares with the other common greiges out there that I already have.
Royal Velvet is gorge! Seriously. If you want it but can't find it, look for Orly Mysterious Curse (which is popping up in clearance, here and there, lately). The two are the same polish, just different names. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. :) Bizzare Blurple is different from Mysterious Curse/Royal Velvet. It's really pretty, more like silk than velvet. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't own OPI You Don't Know Jacques. Astonishing, I know. I keep meaning to pick it up but I keep putting it off. I guess that next payday I will definitely get it. (I can't, right now... Long, sordid story I am not getting in to, here. :)) When I do pick it up, tho I would be happy to do some greiges, if you would still like to see that. :)
Absolutely! I'd be extremely grateful.
ReplyDeleteCool. I have YDKJ on it's way to me, I should have it early next week then I can do the comparison. :)
ReplyDeleteYou made my day :) This is what I was looking for. I thought I could just pick one of these but now realize I need them all xD
