Hello gentle readers.
How long ago did China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy hit the scene? How many times have I seen in on blogs, in YouTube videos, picked it up in stores, put it back down time and time again? Well, I finally picked it up, bought it and took it home with me. China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy is an amazing bright coral neon creme. This polish makes my hands look as if they have been on vacation in San Tropez even though they are just living the housewife life here in the AZ.
This is two coats of China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Seche Vite.
First of all, I must apologize for the washed out colour of these photographs. My camera takes one look at neons and brights and turns and runs like a scared baby. This polish is brighter, cleaner, more saturated than these photos show.
A little about the formula. This polish is a stone cold 24 karat hand embroidered bitch sent from the bowels of hell to torment me. It streaks, it drags, it pulls, it bubbles, it stacks, it runs, it pools, it globs, it dried in the neck of the bottle as I worked with it. If there is a nasty, sneaky, bratty trick a polish can pull on an unsuspecting applier of polish, this polish will pull it. As you can see, I had to do a lot of cleanup. That is because I had to paint fast and wild to get full coats on as smooth as possible before the polish dried and dragged it's self back off as I tried to get it on my nail. It was crazy!
The first coat was atrocious. Streaky, bald spots, just a mess. By the time the second coat was on, it was opaque and kinda-sorta smooth, after a fashion. But not really. By the time I was applying the second coat, I was also composing a scathing review in my head. Then I got out my Seche Vite and started applying it and the most extraordinary thing happened. Suddenly, the somewhat uneven, kind of streaky, a few bubbles here and there mess on my nails melted, smoothed out and my mess of a Flip Flop Fantasy looked like everyone else's Flip Flop Fantasy. Smooth and shiny and very pretty. There are a few uneven spots and a few streaky ridgy areas but overall, I am pretty happy with how this polish looks on my nails.
And it looks smashing in my photographs.
I am torn about China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. I love the colour and It looks fantastic in photographs but application is so difficult. This was the second time I tried to apply and wear this polish. The first time, it was such an insane mess, I set it aside for over a month and almost threw it away. I'm glad that I gave it another chance. I think.
Do you own Flip Flop Fantasy? What do you think of it? Does it behave well for you? Give you a hard time? If it is difficult for you, do you feel that the bright beauty is worth the extra effort? Please do tell, I'd like to know what you think of this polish.
Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to pop in and read and leave a comment. Stay cool and have a great day!
