Review: Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Nourishing Facial Cream

Hello gentle readers.

Sibu Beauty is a company committed to creating a line of efficacious, ethical skin, hair and body care products. The central ingredient in the line is the sea buckthorn berry, from the Tibetan Himalayas purported to be rich in a host of powerful antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Rather than try to rewrite what the website has to say, I will direct your attention here so that you can read all about it, for yourself.

When I was first contacted by a representative of Sibu Beauty about possibly reviewing a product for them, I went to their website and had a good look around. One of the things that first struck and impressed me about this company is their insistence on fair trade, Earth friendly, animal tender business practices. All Sibu Beauty products are GMO free and vegan.

I chose the Sea Buckthorn Nourishing Facial Cream  to try and to review. I am always on the lookout for the next best moisturizer, especially for daytime. I need something that is going to beautifully hydrate my very dry skin, not be heavy or waxy and muck with my makeup, and is, of course, chemical sunscreen free. Not exactly an easy order to fill.

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Nourishing Facial Cream. One Fl. oz. (30 ml.) Packaged in a frosted, recyclable glass bottle with a pump delivery system. This cream sells for $20.95.

From the Sibu website:

This light, non-greasy cream is ideal for daily use and offers a pleasing, light citrus scent. It is paraben free, and cruelty free and contains no dairy, wheat, yeast, gluten, sodium or preservatives.

  • Rejuvenates sun damaged skin.
  • Protects against environmental stress.
  • Preserves healthy skin tone and texture.
  • For all skin types.
  • 1 fl. oz.
  • 100% natural.

Ingredients: water, sea buckthorn seed oil, glycerin, sodium levulinate, sodium anisate, polyglyceryl-10 pentastearate, behenyl alcohol, sodium stearoyl lactylate, cetearyl alcohol, olive oil unsaponifiables, meadowfoam seed oil, shea butter, sea buckthorn fruit oil, orange essential oil, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder, caprylic / capric triglyceride, xanthan gum, panthenol, sodium phytate.

What I say:

This lightweight yellow cream is silky, smooth and smells softly, sweetly of oranges. It spreads easily across my skin and sinks in almost instantly, leaving my skin feeling soft and velvety and hydrated and not in the least bit oily or greasy. The orange scent dissipates quickly, it doesn't linger too long, but if you are very sensitive or just dislike scent in your products, you may not like this cream.

I was surprised that such a lightweight cream formulated for all skin types could be so moisturizing. I have very dry skin and this cream, over a serum beautifully hydrates my skin all day whether I am wearing makeup or not. This cream doesn't quite have enough oomph for me for night. If your skin isn't as dry, you might find that this cream may work beautifully for you, round the clock.

I really like Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Nourishing Facial Cream. I use this cream on a regular basis and enjoy it. I definitely recommend it and yes, when this bottle runs out, I would most likely purchase a bottle, myself. I would also like to try some of their other skin care items.

  1. This looks like beautiful packaging and sounds like a great moisturizer! Unfortunately, I hate things that smell like orange, very rarely can I tolerate the smell. I'd have to smell it before I bought it. But I like that the scent doesn't linger. Anyway, great review!!

  25. The packaging is very nice, especially at the price point. The frosted glass bottle has nice heft and feels expensive.

I know that scent is a very individual thing, a lot of people either can't tolerate it for different reasons or just don't like it and that can put them off of this line. It's too bad that they don't offer little samples that people can order and test before they buy to see if they can handle it or like it. The scent dissipates pretty quickly. In a minute or two, it's gone. I don't know if that would work for you.

Thank you. I'm working hard on my review writing. It doesn't come naturally to me. LOL I think I'm improving, tho.
