Benefit Rockateur: Review and Photographs

*This Post Contains an Affiliate Link*

Hello gentle readers.

Last November, one of my Birthday Month, Retail Therapy makeup purchases was Benefit Rockateur. I don't know what it was about this particular makeup item, but every time I saw it, be it on a blog, in a YouTube video, in an ad, on a store's website, I wanted it more and more. I just had to have it. So, the moment my budget loosened up, I ordered it from Sephora. Or was it Ulta? Ah, hell. I can't remember which, now. It was one or the other. I had to order it online because there are no stores up here in Podunk-Hell-On-Earth-Ville where a person can buy Benefit. Unthinkable, I know. The conditions under which I am forced to live!

Benefit Rockateur is marketed as a rose gold cheek powder. It is a warm rose-mauve very finely milled powder with a super fine golden radiance. The shimmer is not obvious or obnoxious. I don't feel as if my cheeks are covered in sparkle or glitter or fairy dust when I am wearing this cheek colour. Indoors, It isn't even that visible, in outdoor sun, I just see a lovely kiss of healthy glow on my cheeks. How heavenly!

Benefit Rockateur cheek powder is packaged in a cute box with gold snakeskin and black and pink lace print. How stinking cute is the packaging? The box contains 5.0 g. or 0.17 oz. of product and it retails for $28.00.

The lid flips up to reveal a little mirror and a small, angled, white goat hair brush. I don't care for the brushes that come with cosmetics. I did try this one out, as I had heard that this particular brush is a pretty good one. My opinion is it is not too bad. It would do in a pinch, I suppose. I tossed it in a drawer on the pile with the rest of the brushes and applicators that come with palettes and blushes and so on.

Beneath the mirror and the brush is the beautiful cheek powder. It is pressed in many angles to look like a faceted gemstone and the word Rock is pressed, in script on the top. The surface of the powder is coated in a glitter over spray to make it sparkle like a diamond when you open the package, for the first time.

Just look at how pretty it is, when it is untouched. I could hardly bring myself to touch this for the first time. I just sat and looked at it, for a while. Really. I didn't want to spoil it. Then, I realized that I couldn't wait to try it, so I grabbed a brush and went after it. A couple of quick swipes and a soft blow and the glitter over spray was all gone.

A Swipe swatch on the back of my hand. This is a fairly heavy swatch. As you can see, this powder is not super pigmented, it doesn't deposit a lot of colour. On fairer skinned people this works as a blush, if you are deeper skinned, I could see this making a lovely highlighter.

Benefit Rockateur blended out. Soft and pretty. I love this cheek powder, I reach for it frequently and wear it as a blush. I like to apply it with a large, fluffy, very soft synthetic blush brush. My favorite brush to use is the Real Techniques Blush Brush. It picks up and lays down just the right amount of colour for my fair skin. This cheek colour wears nicely all day, I don't notice that it fades out all that much by the time I am ready to take it off at night.

I am wearing Rockateur in this photograph. Yes, I know... I am getting a lot of mileage out of this shot. This isn't the last time I am going to use it, either.

Benefit Rockateur is a favorite makeup item in my rotation. It is my first Benefit makeup item, it won't be my last. If you are liking what you see and haven't grabbed a box of this beautiful, glowing cheek powder, you can pick it up at any of the usual haunts... Sephora, Ulta. Either in store, online, Beauty dot com, various other websites and so on. You all know the shopping drill. I don't have to tell you.

What do you think of this pretty stuff? Do you own it? Do you love it? Please drop me a comment and tell me what you think of it, how you like to wear it.

Thank you so much for dropping by and reading and have a great day.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural: Review and Photographs

Hello gentle readers.

Some days you just want to grab something soft, pretty and easy to slick onto your lips and stuff into your pocket or drop into your bag and know that it won't be a pain in your butt to keep looking fantastic all day.

Say hello to Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural. This gentle, slightly milky, neutral pink-nude shade is going to be a "your lips but better or close to it" (am I the only one cringing, here?) for a lot of us. It goes on beautifully over bare lips and looks equally beautiful over a lipstick. I reach for this lip gloss a minimum of three times a week. Yeah. I like this gloss that much.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural. This gloss lives in a .13 ounce tube and retails for about $ 8.00 each, depending on where you live and from which store you purchase.

This Lip Gloss has your standard wand and plush doe foot applicator.

Swatch on my hand. I don't know what happened to the lighting, here. The colour came out a bit wonky on my skin and the swatch. This photograph was the best of the bunch.

On my lips. Look how lovely and shiny this gloss is. It is very neutral and soft and pretty. Yep. Lip lines. Get used to them. I am on old broad. I have lip lines. Anything with any pigment is going to end up in those little suckers and if I point my camera at my lips and set it at macro, they are going to show. That is just how it is. I have learned to live with it. They don't really show at normal viewing distance.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural is very lightweight and silky and not at all sticky. Wear time isn't stellar; like most lip glosses, it is best reapplied on a regular basis. There isn't much of a scent and no taste. I love that this gloss is comfortable and it keeps my lips soft and never, ever dries them out.

Do you own Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural? What do you think of it  Do you like it as much as I do? If you don't own this but would like to try it, you can find it at just about any drugstore, mass merchandiser, many grocery stores that sell cosmetics, online, at Ulta, just about anywhere and everywhere. So, go get you one. If Super Natural isn't your thing, there are about twelve more shades available that should do the trick.

Thank you so much for dropping in and reading this review. I appreciate so much that you take a little time out of your day to spend it reading my blog and perhaps leaving a comment. I hope that you have a beautiful day!

Nail Art for Lovers: Leather and Lace

Hello gentle readers.

I was messing around the other day, to see what I could come up with nail art wise in the theme of Valentine's Day. I wasn't holding out much hope... I am not exactly the Chalkboard Nails of the nail art set, here. My offerings are rare and the outcomes are pretty hit or miss. Usually miss.

This design I would classify as... I'll let you decide. I call it Leather and Lace. Enjoy the earworm. #sorrynotsorry It kind of came together as I went along. I knew that I wanted to work in pink with some red and white. I wanted stamping, texture and shine. Then I ran with it. I went stash diving and ended up using all China Glaze polishes. My selections were Wicked Style, With Love and Snow. I also hauled out a stamping plate and some striping tape and got to it.

I started with one coat of Wicked Style, a gorgeous bright pink creme on all but my ring nails then did my ring nails in With Love, a beautiful red crelly. I topped them with Seche Vite and let them dry a few minutes then stamped the pink nails with Snow and the rose image from BM H-16 to look like lace. On the red accent nail, I applied stripes of tape, then two coats of the Wicked Style and pulled off the tape and got this cool, thick texture like a tooled leather finish. I topped all of my nails with more Seche Vite.

Unfortunately, in photographs, the accent nail texture doesn't come across as it did in person. Isn't that the way is always is?

Don't inspect that stamping too closely! You'll see where I clearly mucked up the works on that.

I am so bummed that the accent nail came out looking so flat and blah in my photos. In person, it was so much more interesting and dimensional.

Are you doing anything special for Valentine's Day? Going out? Snuggling in? Having a girls night? Flying solo? The husband unit and I will be pretty much rolling as usual. We don't much bother with Valentine's Day any more. We have been married so long that it is not that big a deal, to us. We also tend to do little things for one another whenever the spirit moves us, rather than making grand gestures when the calendar tells us to.

Okay, I am going to post this before the day gets away from me. Thank you so much for swinging by and reading and have yourself a terrific day!

OPI Over and Over A-Gwen: Swatch and Review

Hello gentle readers.

My final offering from the OPI Gwen Stefani Collection for Winter 2014 is Over and Over A-Gwen. A gorgeous, perfectly balanced red crelly that would suit just about any skin tone and delight just about any red polish lover. Also to delight, is a small sheet of Swarovski Elements crystals, studs, bars and diamonds to decorate your nails and amp up your nail designs. The Swarovski Elements are good quality and can be used again and again, if you show them a little care.

This swatch is two coats and Seche Vite and a simple design created with Swarovski Elements. I guess it's no surprise that this is my favorite polish of this collection. I am so predictable. I can't lay off a great red polish. And this is a great red polish.

Let's run it down:

Formula: Flawless. Application: Easy and pleasant. Finish: Impeccable. This polish didn't give me a bit of trouble. No running, pooling, streaking, dragging, grabbing or bubbling. Dry time is good. This polish is fantastic. The presentation box is something special and the Swarovski Elements make it even better. Whether you choose to wear this or just tuck it away as a collector item, I suggest that you pick it up and add it to your polish hoard stash. Clearly, I am wearing mine.

Did you pick up OPI Over and Over A-Gwen? Do you love it? And the Swarovski Elements that come with it? If you would like to have this polish, I saw it at my local Sally Beauty Supply, today and they carry it online, too. You should also be able to find it at Ulta and Ulta online, at JC Penny salons, and at various beauty supplies and salons that carry OPI. It is out there, and not too hard to find, yet.

Look out, I hope that you aren't growing tired of OPI from me, for we shall be taking a little jaunt to Brazil, soon. Yepper, I have purchased the colours from that collection that I wanted. And China Glaze Sea Goddess has come home with me. They are freaking pretty in the bottles, can't wait 'till they hit my nails, kids. Let's see, what else? Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette... What??? I had a coupon for 20% off from Ulta! What was I supposed to do? Let it go to waste? I think not! I have some lippies in the pipeline, the Lorac Unzipped palette. And some other pretty stuff. I am also going to torture you with some Christmas/Holiday polishes. Sorry, loves. It has to be done. I didn't have the chance to show them at the appropriate time, so, I am doing it when I can.

Anywhoozle... I hope that this will all be okay with all of you. Thank you all so much for popping in and reading, for supporting me with your comments and input and I hope that you have a great day and a wonderful week.

OPI In True Stefani Fashion: Swatch and Review

Hello gentle readers.

In True Stefani Fashion Is an insanely sparkly glitter topper comprised of tiny and small hex and medium square silver holo glitter pieces in a fluid clear base. This glitter polish is amazingly easy to apply, it handles well, doesn't require any annoying patting or placing. Dry time is pretty good and it is pretty smooth for a topper glitter. I like to top glitters with a coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite for maximum sparkle and shine.

This swatch is one coat of OPI In True Stefani Fashion over I Sing in Color.

So there you have it. The insanely sparkly and bright OPI In True Stefani Fashion. What do you think of this glitter topper? Did you buy it? How are you wearing it? What are some of your favorite pairings with this glitter?

If you are looking for OPI In True Stefani Fashion you should be able to find it at Ulta, JC Penny salons, other in store salons that carry OPI, independent salons and beauty supplies and Sally Beauty Supply in store and online.

Thank you so much for popping by and reading and have a beautiful Friday!

OPI I Sing in Color: Swatch and Review

Hello gentle readers.

OPI I Sing in Color from the Gwen Stefani Collection is a deep, dark purple jelly. This polish builds easily to full opacity. I was able to get it there in two coats on my smooth nails, I needed three coats on my ridge-y nails. This polish is stupid shiny on it's own, tho this swatch is topped with Seche Vite because, well, that is just how I roll.

Just how squish-a-liscious is this stuff, I ask you?

The formula on this polish is fantastic. Smooth as silk, it sits down where it is placed, flows off of that Pro Wide brush and slips up the nail without any difficulties but some slight streaking, which is pretty typical of jellies. Fear not tho as the second coat evens everything out beautifully. I only needed a third coat on my ring and pinkie nails thanks to my stupid ridges. They were large and in charge and this stuff is just a bit too jelly to cope in two. I didn't have to worry about running, pooling, dragging, bubbling or lagging dry time. This polish is simply splendid.

What do you think of OPI I Sing in Color? Love it? Did you pick it up, yet? If you haven't, but are craving, it is available, now where OPI is sold. Try your local Ulta, or their website, Sally Beauty Supply online, JC Penny salons, other salons and beauty supplies.

Thank you so much for swinging by and reading and have a great day!

OPI Push and Shove: Swatch and Review

Hello gentle readers.

OPI Push and Shove from the Gwen Stefani Collection creates that near mirror finish in an easy-peasy two step system. First, a special base coat, Lay Down the Base is applied and allowed to dry. This only takes a minute or so. Then, Push and Shove goes on in two thin, easy coats. As this polish is applied, it looks brushstroke-y and a bit of a mess, but then something magical happens, right before your eyes. As it dries, it bonds with the base coat, hardens and smooths and suddenly, the brush strokes are gone and the finish is super shiny and near mirror perfect. It is the wackiest thing.

Push and shove is very easy to work with and apply. I had to do very little cleanup as it sits down where it is placed, doesn't run or pool or give other trouble. I didn't have any dragging, streaking or bubbling, either. Wear time on this polish is not long. Expect to enjoy it looking it's best for an evening, for a day, for a party.

The swatch below is two thin coats of Push and Shove over one coat of Lay Down the Base base coat. As far as I know, Push and Shove won't work over any other kind of base coat. No top coat is used with this polish.

I only swatched Push and Shove on my middle and index nails because this polish shows every tiny flaw in your nails and my ring and pinkie nails are very ridged and Push and Shove just would not have looked well on those nails.

I like OPI Push and Shove and I will keep it around for when I want that special, super-shiny fun look on my nails.

Did you pick up OPI Push and Shove and Lay Down the Base? What do you think of the system? Isn't it fun and fantastic looking? If you think that you would like to pick it up, the Gwen Stefani for OPI Collection is for sale now, where you can buy OPI, including various Ulta stores, JC Penny salons, Salons in other retail outlets, Sally Beauty Supply online and various beauty supply stores.

Thank you so much for coming in and reading and have a fantastic day!

Review: Incoco Real Nail Polish Applique in Made With Love

*Press Sample*

Hello gentle readers.

Incoco Sweet Surprise Collection for Valentine's Day 2014 adds five brand new fun, romantic designs to it's line up of sweet, heart themed nail treats for lovers of love everywhere.

Today I am showing you Made With Love, a drip and swish style nail art applique in gradated shades of pink and red on a crisp, white ground. I was tickled to receive this design from Incoco as I have always wanted to do this design and wear it but my attempts to create it on my own have met with abject failure. I enjoyed wearing these appliques so much. I was sad when they wore out and I had to remove them.

I really like Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques. Seriously. I do. I love them for their one and done ease. Apply them and get on with my life. No sitting around waiting for them to dry and cure, no worries about denting or smearing. Instant pretty. I get an average of five days wear time out of a set of Incoco nail appliques. Not the fourteen days claimed, but I don't really mind that. For one thing, I am hard on my hands, I am a busy housewife, I do my housework hardcore and I don't wear gloves. And for another, after about five days, I am about ready for a change of pace. Five days is just fine with me. I have stretched a set of these nail appliques out ten days with careful use of top coat and keeping my tips wrapped but frankly, I don't like having to bother. I just wear them as long as they last then remove them and move on.

Applying Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques takes a little patience, practice and time, especially at first. But when you factor in the time it takes to apply base coat, a base nail colour, do nail art, apply top coat, allow time for all of those layers to fully dry and cure, in my personal experience, applying the Incoco appliques is much faster! And certainly much easier. I still love sitting down to do nail art but sometimes it is nice to just smooth these on and enjoy the instant gratification.

Okay, this ran on longer than I really intended. Sorry about that. I can't seem to just get to it and shut up, can I? What do you think of Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques? Have you tried them? Do you find them easy to apply? Enjoyable to wear? Please do tell as I'd like to hear your thoughts.

If you are interested in grabbing Made With Love, it is available now for $8.99 in the new Sweet Surprise Collection along with other beautiful Valentine's day themed designs.

Incoco has many, many beautiful designs to grace the fingertips of every polish lover. From glossy, classic colour coats to intricate glitter nail art designs to chic French manicures, Incoco has your nails covered. Incoco ships fast, shipping on all orders over fifty dollars is free and as always, returns are free. Shop the full Incoco Collection here. You can Like Incoco on Facebook, follow on TwitterPinterest and of course on Instagram.

Thank you so much for dropping in and reading and have a beautiful day!

Super Nails for a "Super Bowl"

Hello gentle readers.

Before we get started, I suppose that I should say that the following post is written in tongue in cheek, light hearted fun. No disrespect is intended toward any state, sport, team, fans. Good grief, do I really need to say this?

Now, anyone who knows me even a little bit knows that:

Seriously, I couldn't care less about football. I never know who is playing, who is winning, who is losing, who is up, who is down, who is in, who is out. I half paid attention to one football game, one time in my life. A few? years ago when the Chicago Bears were in the Super Bowl, to support my husband's fandom and excitement. Aren't I a good little wifey? That was my sole glimmer of interest.

Until this year.

You see, the two teams that are competing in the Super Bowl this year are both from states that have recently legalized marijuana for recreational use. When I heard that the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks would be playing, my ears went up and my evil little brain instantly drove my imagination into possible nail art overdrive. Why, you may ask, would my brain be evil? Well... Think about it...

As soon as I realized the possibilities, I knew that there was work to be done. I wanted to do nail art that would mark this most auspicious of days. First, research. I had no clue, for instance what polishes I needed. What colours did the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks wear? A quick Google search gave me the answers I sought. Then there was stash diving to do to find the right polishes needed to match up the team colours as best I could, from reading about them.

For the Denver Broncos I chose:

Orly Orange Punch  (I have a sad few orange polishes!)
OPI Incognito in Sausalito  (Chosen,in the end for it's stamping prowess.)
China Glaze Snow

Google search said that their colours are blue and orange and I saw that white is used as well, so I incorporated that, also.

For the Seattle Seahawks I chose:
China Glaze Hi Def
OPI Incognito in Sausalito
China Glaze Millennium

Google search said that their colours are blue, bright green and silver.

I decided to do a simple stamped and funky French design. I have learned, the hard way that if I try to get too fancy, things get ugly, fast. I had some high flown (high... get it? high... har! har!) ideas, at first, but I know myself and I know my limitations. Simple is best. Since the design was to be simple, I knew precisely which stamping plate I needed. Good old Bundle Monster 07. Finally, after all of these years! I have a use for BM 07!

For my Super Nail Art, I painted my nails team colours base colours then stamped pot leaves in dark blue with BM 07 to symbolize both teams from both states since they both use dark blue and the dark blue stamped best. Then I finished up with funky French tips in team colours and topped it all with Orly Matte Top to look all tough and manly. Because football.

So there you have it. My Super Mani for the "Super Bowl." With these teams in contention, it's going to be smokin'!

Okay, okay. No more cheesy jokes. I promise.

Mmmm... Cheese...

Cheese. Nacho. Cheese. Nacho Cheese...

Would someone please pass the Doritos?

Oh wait, I'm not done, yet. So, what did you do with your nails to celebrate today? Are you a fan of the Denver Broncos? The Seattle Seahawks? Are you excited for the big game? Do you go all out, put out a big spread, have a party, order a pile of pizzas and sit in front of the big screen and cheer your lungs out?

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading. Whatever your plans, whomever you cheer for, I hope that you have a terrific day and enjoy. And now, will you please, please pass the Doritos?

Press Release: OPI Presents The New Brazil Collection for Spring, 2014

Hello gentle readers.

I don't know about you but I have about had it up to my eyeballs with Winter. I know. I don't exactly live in an area of the country that has suffered the worst effects of the season. I am ready for warm weather, bright colours, baby chicks, fluffy bunnies.
