Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow and Liner Palette 109 French Nude
Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow and Liner Palette 109 French Nude, $50.00 is one of the items I treated myself to one day on impulse when in a local department store. It is my first Lancome eye shadow purchase and after using it for a while, I will say it won't be my last. Budget allowing.
The compact is pure Lancome, it is the signature black plastic with the gold logo rose stamped in the lower corner. Very clean and simple. The compact is lightweight but not flimsy. It feels solid and lovely in the hand. Every little detail is attended to, just as it should be.
Press the little button on the front of the compact and the lid springs gently up to reveal a full sized mirror. Laid out below are the eye shadows. At the top is a pale, lightly shimmery ivory base/highlight shade. Then a neutral peach/buff satin matte that I like to use as a lid colour. In the middle is a saddle tan satin matte that is a smashing crease and lower lid liner shade and the small shadow on the end is the prettiest golden champagne shimmer for highlighting. Below is a slender strip of matte deep brown for lining and crease and outer corner work if you really want to get smokey.
I chose a neutral palette for a couple of reasons. For one, I tend to reach most often for neutral shadows and I felt that at splurge price, I should choose colours I know I will like and get the most use out of. I don't buy makeup to have it sit unloved in a dark drawer. I buy it to use it.
Swatches. *le sigh* My lighting...
These shadows are not kapow! They are gentle, neutral, ladylike. They are pigmented and give lovely payoff on the eye. The texture is smooth and velvety, the satin mattes can be a little powdery, as is pretty typical of more matte shadows but I don't have a problem with fallout. These shadows apply easily, blend beautifully and don't fly away or get muddy. I apply them over eye shadow primer and I get all day wear; they look just about as fresh and pretty at the end of my long day as they do when I apply them many hours earlier.
I enjoy using my Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow and Liner Palette 109 French Nude. Yes, it is a spendy little indulgence. I don't own a whole pile of these beauties. Tho I admit I wouldn't mind... They come in an array of delicious colour combinations that are calling to me. They will just have to keep on calling for a little while longer.
Do you own any of the Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow and Liner Palettes? Which shades? Do you love them? Please do share, I'd love to hear what you think.
