I was recently cruising around my local CVS shopping the Milani BOGO 1/2 sale and during my little spree I picked up three of the Milani Color Statement Nail Lacquer polishes. Milani recently reformulated and repackaged their nail polish and I wanted to try it out. I picked up Mint Crush, a lovely pale blue-y mint green, Bombshell, pure girlie bubblegum pink and Royal Purple, a lovely, intense lavender. All so perfect for Spring. And at $3.99 and buy one, get one half off... A bargain, as well.
Thanks to a couple of bad breaks, I was forced to put my nails on the Grinder Bus to Nubbin Town. *le sigh* So I am growing out. Again. Still. Whatever. I thought about going vampy, my usual fallback when I go nubby but it was a cold day and I was craving Spring so I went in the other direction. I prepped my fresh new nubbins with a coat of Essie Protein Base, two coats of Barielle Hydrating Ridge Filler then smoothed on one coat of Milani Color Statement Nail Lacquer in Mint Crush. Yep. You heard me right, gentle reader, one coat.
This polish has in incredible formula for a pastel. I was blown away at how good the formula on this polish is. It is thick but not gloopy, highly pigmented and very dense, it flows easily off of the OPI style, flat, wide brush but there is no running, pooling, streaking or dragging. I had one little bubble on my pinkie, hence my decision to do nail art... But other than that this polish gave me no trouble. I had a lot of cleanup because I always paint sloppy on nubs, don't ask me why. This may perform different on longer nails but for well prepared nubbins, it's a one coat wonder!
Dry time is good with a fast dry top coat like my usual Seche Vite. After I applied top coat, I decided I wanted Moar Spring So I grabbed the other two Milani polishes I bought, a dotting tool and did some sloppy flowers and topped it all with a second coat of Seche Vite.
My bright, flowery mint nails are making me very happy, right now. I really like this polish and if you like mint polish and are are looking for a pretty one with a great formula, I suggest that you hit up the Milani website or your local drugstore that carries Milani and grab yourself a bottle of Mint Crush. I think you'll be really happy with it.
