Luminess Air Air Supremacy Airbrush Makeup

//sent for consideration//

I recently had the very great pleasure of being able to review the Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup System. A system which I very much like and enjoy. Now, Luminess is launching, Tuesday October 27th on QVC at 10:00 P.M. with host Shawn Killinger a new line of airbrush makeup. Named Air Supremacy, the Starter Kit will premier once at a price of $49.00. (Retail Value is $175.00)

Luminess Air Supremacy Starter Kit Review QVC Launch

Luminess kindly sent me a Starter Kit to try. This is what you will receive with your purchase:
  • Air Primer
  • Spray - On Airbrush Foundation in your chosen shade range. (My shades are in the Fair range.)
  • Spray - On Airbrush Blush in Soft Rose.
  • Travel Makeup Sealant
  • Pro - Air Blender
  • Brush
  • Get Started Guide
  • Leaflet Detailing Other Products in the Line
The Starter Kit will be available in four shades.

What benefits can Luminess Air Supremacy  offer? Let's run some of them down. It is fast, easy and affords superior, blendable, breathable coverage. You can customize your coverage, depending on your needs. Application is a breeze thanks to the soft mist spray that applies a smooth, flawless finish that lasts up to eighteen hours. With it's cruelty free, oil, paraben and fragrance free, dermatologist tested formula, you can feel good about using this makeup, even if you have sensitive skin. This foundation is also free of chemical sunscreens. A big plus for special snowflakes, like me.

Luminess Air Supremacy Starter Kit Contents and Details

I have been experimenting with my Starter Kit, trying the various shades, application methods and I have learned a few things. First, the Air Primer, while effective is a bit drying for my #driedoutoldhag skin. I think it is best for younger/oilier/normal skins. Second, how much I like this Spray - On Airbrush Foundation. I wear Shade 2, Bloom. Shade 3, Golden Beige is too dark. Third, my preferred application method. I'm a spray it on the plump, butt end of a damp Beauty Blender and bounce it all over my face kinda girl. I like a light/medium coverage and spraying the makeup directly on my face gives me more coverage than I need or desire. Also, this foundation sets to a lovely, touchable, velvety finish and if I apply too much, it can break in my fine lines and creases. A lighter layer, applied with a damp sponge, then lightly set with powder wears more successfully on my maturing complexion.

I also apply the Spray on Airbrush Blush with my Beauty Blender. I spray it on the blunt end, bounce it onto my cheekbones, blending up and back, toward my temples, giving me that soft, from under my skin flush I like. I have always worn a paler cheek, it's just the look I prefer. This blush can be applied directly with the soft mist can, (I am a klutz with it, seriously, I just can't) sprayed on a sponge, like I do or onto a soft brush and buffed onto the cheeks. There is really no right or wrong. Just do you. Do what feels right for your skin and needs. This makeup is very adaptable.

Luminess Air Supremacy Foundation Application

So, here I am, with my Beauty Blender, applying my foundation. In the interest of full disclosure, I routinely use editing to lighten my under eye area in my photographs. I have monster dark circles under my eyes and even with corrector, concealer, foundation and lighting... I need extra help. I feel too self conscious posting my photos with my awful circles just hanging out there, for the whole world to see.

Luminess Air Supremacy Finished Makeup Look

My finished makeup look. I love that Spray On Airbrush Blush. It is the perfect soft flush. I did a quick, easy neutral eye look with my Too Faced Star Dust palette, mascara is a sample of a MAC mascara and my lippie is YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Pink in Confidence. I tried the Makeup Sealant. It seems to work just fine.

Luminess Air Supremacy Airbrush Foundations will be available in twelve shades from fair to deep. There will also be:
  • Air Supremacy Blush in three shades. Rose, Natural and Apricot.
  • Air Supremacy Cocktail Mists A range of Airbrush Beauty Mists including primers, makeup sealants, bronzers and complexion enhancers.
  • Air Supremacy Eye Shadow Collection A classic airbrush eye shadow collection for an easy to apply flawless, refined look.
  • Air Supremacy Body Shimmers Four elegant shades to illuminate your skin with subtle shimmer.
  • Air Supremacy Hide Out Body Cover Designed to to cover tattoos, bruises, varicose veins, and other skin blemishes. The Soft Mist application allows it to apply and blend flawlessly, it is lightweight, long lasting and should not transfer.
So, what do you think? Have you tried spray on foundations or other makeup? Do you think that you will purchase a Luminess Air Supremacy starter kit when this launches on QVC Tuesday, 10/27 at 10 P.M.?

Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner | My Notes

//sent for consideration//affiliate//

Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner

I do bad things to my hair. I use bleach for highlights to make it blonde. I bathe it in chemical dyes that tone it different colours. I use a blow dryer almost every time I wash it, curling irons and a flat iron, from time to time. Add to all of that meanness my hair's natural texture which can be kindly be described as... insane and you get why I am forever on the hunt for rich, hydrating conditioners for my mane. Is Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner one of those conditioners? Let's have a look-see.

Formulated with a masterful blend of harmless conditioning ingredients and eighteen different silk amino acids as well as jojoba and argan oils and botanical keratin, Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner hydrates and conditions to result in soft, shiny hair that has body and bounce. Static and frizz are reduced, hair is easier to manage. This conditioner is safe for colour treated hair.

Devoid of artificial colour and fragrances, this conditioner contains 100% natural vanilla that provides a delicious and warm scent that should appeal to women and men, alike. I like it. Unless you are highly scent sensitive or just dislike the scent of natural vanilla (the kind you make cookies with) the fragrance of this conditioner shouldn't offend. It isn't super strong, it's just pleasantly there. The heat of my blow dryer brought it up a little as I was drying my hair but once I was finished, I didn't really notice it.

Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner Swatch

This is a medium viscosity conditioner. I needed a pretty hefty amount to thoroughly coat and get good comb through of my tangle prone tresses. Happily, this did give me good comb through. I left my hair clipped up in this conditioner while I took care of other showerly responsibilities. (Don't worry, I'm not going into details.) And rinsed. I turbied my hair to blot and got on with it.

Damp comb out wasn't bad, at all. Not hot-knife-through-buttah but not too shabby. I had my hair fully combed out with my wide tooth comb in less than a minute. Impressed was I. Next, it was time to blow my hair dry. I had a little bit of a problem; I left my hair turbied a bit too long, it had plopped into it's crazy wurl pattern by the time I released the beast. It is at this point in my process that I normally start applying products. Leave in, a little oil, some smoothing cream, blow dry spray, all in an effort to make my hair behave and dry faster. I wanted to see how this conditioner performs on it's own so I just used a little quick blow dry spray so that I wasn't at drying my hair all day long.

Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner Result Headshot

The result is happy, soft, smooth-ish shiny hair. I could have used my flat iron or curling iron and some oil to give my hair an artificially styled up appearance but I wanted to give you an honest look at how this conditioner does on colour treated, naturally wurly, frizz prone tresses. It does well. This is my hair, running wild in it's natural habitat, just blown dry with a brush without any styling. I like this conditioner. I would definitely consider buying more.

Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner is $12.97 for an 8 fl. oz bottle. Cruelty free, free of sulfates, dyes, artificial fragrances, silicone, parabens, works beautifully with any shampoo and is made right here in the good old U.S. of A. What more could your tresses ask for? Why not pick up a bottle and give them a sweet, silky treat?

Have you tried this conditioner? What does your hair think of it?

Bath & Body Works A Thousand Wishes

Bath & Body Works A Thousand Wishes Scent Layering

I've been blowing a few clams at Bath & Body Works, lately. Okay... Maybe more than a few... What can I say. I'm going through a phase. I need to be indulged. One of my new B&BW scent obsessions is A Thousand Wishes. Described by Bath & Body Works as:
A festive blend of sparkling champagne, crystal peonies and almond creme.

This fragrance is light, fresh, creamy-floral and effervescent. I've become so attached to it. I have learned that the most successful way to wear B&BW fragrances is to layer them. So, that is what I do.I start in my shower: The Shower Gel gives a rich, cushioning lather but is not moisturizing. The Ultra Shea Body Cream is lightweight, yet super hydrating and the fragrance is long lasting. It sinks right in, isn't greasy or sticky and it makes my skin feel like velvet. I love this formula. The Fine Fragrance Mist is the perfect way to top my layering experience. I spray it on my skin and clothes, as the scent likes to cling to fabric a bit longer than it does to skin.

While Bath & Body Works body products are a tiny bit spendy, they are always running really great BOGO offers that make them far more reasonable in price. I like to use Ebates to make things even more affordable. I have their little thingamabobber on my Chrome command bar and it pops a reminder when I land on a site where I can take advantage. A lovely service for us foggy brained #oldfarts.

What are your recent Bath & Body Works scent obsessions?

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eye Shadow Palette | Trafalgar

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eye Shadow Palette | Trafalgar

My first Dior makeup item purchase is the absolutely gorgeous Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eye Shadow Palette in #876 Trafalgar. The compact is a deep, inky midnight blue with the iconic Dior logo on the top. It also comes with a velvety slip case. I didn't include a picture, the shots I had weren't successful.

    Dior Eye Shadow Palette Trafalgar

If you are looking for the perfect, ladylike, refined, Autumn eye palette for your eyes, I encourage you to consider this one. Five shades, from a delicate ivory white to a powerful burgundy combine to create looks that evoke falling leaves, round, polished apples and rich, red wine.

Dior Eye Shadow Quint Palette in Trafalgar Closeup

The pans are pressed in the Dior signature plump quilted pattern with a middle medallion emblazoned with the brand's logo initials. The palette comes with small applicators also bearing the brand logo. Just looking at the palette, untouched was a treat and it took me a while to bring myself to mar that that perfect surface!

I did mar it, tho. I had to!

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eye Shadow Palette in Trafalgar Swatches

The pink is a soft, sugar almond pink. Not harsh, or staring. The shimmer is refined, there isn't even a hint of anything sparkly or chunky. The texture is silky smooth. This is one of the prettiest pink eye shadows I have ever seen.

The ivory white highlight shade is delicate and softly luminous. There is the barest hint of gold hiding deep within but there is nothing obvious about it. Don't let my description of delicate fool you, this shadow is not a throw away, it does it's job. And does it well.

This burgundy is striking. I have to be careful how I apply it, as it can overwhelm my colouring but if I wear it right, it's gorgeous. This shadow is very pigmented, silky smooth, applies and blends like a dream. There is a gentle, almost hidden duochrome shift that amazingly, my camera caught a glimpse of.

The brown satin is the perfect anchor shade for this stunning palette. Creamy smooth and blendable, there isn't too much to say than this is an excellent shadow.

I love a great dirty sage green and this one is done so well. Soft, wearable, with that warm hint of gold and just an undercurrent of something not quite right. Delicious. This is a standout in a stellar quint of beautiful colours.

I think that I chose well for my first Dior makeup purchase. I actually bought this palette almost a year ago. I don't know why I didn't talk about it until now... What I do know is that the Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eye Shadow Palette in #876 Trafalgar is beautiful and perfect for this time of year. And I know that I have more shade selections on my list to buy. What are your favorite shades? There are eleven available... Which one should I get, next?

    Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms

    //sent for consideration//affiliate//

    Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms

As the days of Autumn get shorter and cooler, our thoughts turn to the harsh, cold days of Winter and protecting the delicate skin of our lips becomes a top priority. Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms can help! With a nurturing formula rich in Beeswax, Aloe Vera, Sunflower, Coconut and Castor Oils, Cocoa and Shea Butters, these lip balms can keep your lips soft, hydrated, comfortable and protect them from the cold, dry air and harsh cold.

Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms Flavors and Details

Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms come in a set of four flavors: Vanilla, Pomegranate, Acia Berry and Peppermint. All of the scents and flavors are light and pleasant. The Pomegranate and Vanilla are my faves. The Acia Berry is lovely, too. I passed the Peppermint along to my mother in law to get her opinion of the formula. She gives her whole hearted endorsement and has requested a set as a stocking stuffer.

I give my endorsement, as well! If you read me with any consistency, you know that I have very sensitive lips that are prone to dryness thanks to a chronic medical condition that is under a dermatologist's care. I have to keep my lips constantly protected and hydrated and I have to be very careful about what I put on them. They like these lip balms, they find them comforting and caring and I will definitely purchase more, when these run out.

Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms  are only $7.15 for the set of four. They are perfectly budget friendly,  cruelty free, gluten free, soy free, paraben free and GMO free. Maple Holistics Natural Lip Balms are made in the U.S.A.

Have you tried these lip balms? Would you consider them? Please do tell.

Too Faced Star Dust by Vegas Nay Palette | My Notes

Too Faced Star Dust by Vegas Nay

After many reviews that gushed and videos that extolled virtues and much thought about whether or not I would really like it or use it, I fell prey to the pretty that is the Too Faced Star Dust Palette By Vegas Nay. It's been sitting on a shelf in my beauty room since I bought it. I don't know why I haven't gotten into it, before now. Sometimes I will buy something like this and I'll be content to just... Have it around for a little while. Just to see it there. I don't know. I don't feel any urgent urgency to crack it open right away. Sometimes it's nice to to see it there. All new and perfect and know that one day, when I want to, it will be ready to open and explore. I know... I'm weird.

Is the Too Faced Star Dust Palette by Vegas Nay worthy of the all of the hype and excitement it has received? Well, let's lift the magnetized flap on the outer packaging, open it up and see what everyone is gushing about, shall we?

A double hinged card stock box with a magnetized closure opens, book style to reveal pictures and some information about Vegas Nay. I like the overall colour scheme of this packaging. I dig pink and black and gold and this is done very nicely. It isn't too cutsie, nor is it gaudy or overblown. Lines are clean, script is crisp and pretty and there are hearts and bokeh.

Too Faced Star Dust - Vegas Nay Packaging

The good stuff is stashed, divided up in each side of the box.

Too Faced Star Dust by Vegas Nay Look Cards and Other Products

In one side you will find a card stock holder that contains three snacked sized iconic Too Faced products and some look cards with a picture of the finished look on the front and on the back, detailed instructions so that you can follow along and create the look, for yourself.

In the other side is the eye shadow palette, it's self. All pink and gold and dotted in soft bokeh effect, it is slender, lightweight, comprised of paperboard and has a magnetic closure to keep it from swinging open, should you decide to slip it into a tote or carry on. This palette does not have a mirror.

Too Faced Star Dust Palette - Vegas Nay Palette

Tucked into their compact nest are twelve generous sized eye shadows in a mix of matte, shimmer and metallic textures. The colour range is so well thought out. There are soft satin matte and shimmer highlights, beautiful matte and metallic lid shades, deep crease colours, perfect outer V enhancers, pops of colour, transition blenders to the nth. All of the shadows are beautifully pigmented and have excellent payoff on the eye. They all build and blend easily and smoothly. A few of the shadows feel a tad stiff to the touch and swatch a little on the patchy side but they aren't much of a problem to work with.

I haven't busted open the snack sized Better Than Sex mascara, yet. I dare say, that mascara has a lot to live up to... The Glamour Dust in Nude Beam has merely been swatched, as of now. I'll think of ways to use it. It is awfully pretty! The Too Faced Shadow Insurance is good stuff. I approve.

On to my customary janky swatches. Because I rock everything I do.

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay Swatches

    • Too Faced Glamour Dust - Nude Beam: This delicate golden loose shimmer powder is pure magic. My photo doesn't even begin to do it justice.
    • Chandelier: Soft satin matte ivory with the merest hint of pink.
    • Millennial: Matte saddle tan.
    • Girl's Night: Medium red toned brown matte.
    • #selfie: Absolutely smooth barely pink shimmer.
    • Showgirl: Golden bronze metallic shimmer.
    • Jackpot: Dark brown matte with golden glitters.

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay Swatches

    • Pink Pearl: Delicate, pink-y lavender shimmer.
    • The Strip: Taupe-lilac shimmer.
    • Follow Me: Medium purple demi matte.
    • Double Tap: Chocolate brown matte.
    • Golden Nugget: Bright gold metallic.
    • Sin City: Matte Black.
Sin City, Double Tap, Follow Me and Girl's Night feel stiff to the touch and swatch a bit patchy. Double Tap lacks a bit in pigmentation and needs building up,both in swatches and on the eye. None of these are *bad shadows, they are all workable, just have a little patience with them and they will work out, very nicely. All of the other shadows in this palette are soft, smooth and some are even very creamy and velvety. Most of them can be a touch flaky or kick up a bit of powder when I hit them with my brush but a quick tap and all is well. I don't have any real trouble with fallout with any of these shadows. I routinely apply primer before I apply eye shadow. Tho I don't have oily eye lids, I do have a problem with creasing and for some weird reason, my lids like to eat eye shadow. Can't tell you why... Pica? Maybe they need mineral supplements? Whatever the case, with primer, I get solid, all day wear out of these shadows, no sweat.

If you ask me, the Too Faced Star Dust Palette by Vegas Nay, at $45.00 is well worth the asking price and, yes, the hype.

Do you own this pretty palette? Thinking about picking it up? It's still available on the Ulta website and it's back in stock, as of this post being written on the Too Faced website. It is limited edition, so if you're mulling it over, don't mull too much longer! If you're asking me, I say, get it.

Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Isododecane, Cetrimonium Chloride, Quaternium 91, Polyquaternium-7, Polyquaternium-11, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Panthenol, Glycerin, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Mryristate, Menthol, Methoxy PEG/PPG- 7/3 Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Quaternium-95, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Keratin, Stearamine Oxide, Biotin, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Amodimethicone, Hydrolyzed Ceratonia Siliqua Seed Extract, Octocrylene, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Sucrose Laurate, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Zinc Gluconate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Ornithine HCl, Niacinamide, Glucosamine HCl, Citrulline, Calcium Pantothenate, Arginine, Arctium Majus Root Extract, Acetyl Tyrosine, Propanediol, Dipropylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorphenesin, Methylisothiazolinone.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner and my results were a bit mixed. Honestly, I don't have the target hair type for this formula but I like to experience and share my impressions on different types of products. And sometimes, things that aren't targeted to you, specifically turn out to be a perfect match. I wish that had been the case with this shampoo and conditioner.

The shampoo lathers up nicely and got my hair very clean in one good shampooing. It is minty and refreshing, just don't let this shampoo run into your eyes! I was careful to keep it well clear of my peepers and they were still feeling the minty vibes. After rinsing, my hair felt as it does with many sulfate free shampoos, kind of dry, even though is was soaking wet and it was tangled and felt matted together, in spite of the fact that I am careful about how I wash my wurly, very tangle prone hair.

The conditioner is thin and also minty and cooling. I worked a generous amount through my hair and felt as if I needed more. I tried to comb out with my wide tooth shower comb but wet slip was almost non existent. I was barely able to finger comb my hair, much less use my shower comb. I finally gave up and twisted it up in a clip to let the conditioner soak in for a while then I rinsed it out. Combing was a tiny bit easier as I rinsed, with the water running through it. My scalp felt so refreshed and cool. I loved the sensation! This would be the perfect shampoo and conditioner for those long, hot Summer days.

I blotted my hair in a microfiber turbie and I did not apply any leave in conditioner or oil, as I normally do. I wanted to see how the shampoo and conditioner performed, on their own. Damp comb out was just okay. I could have used a little leave in to aid the process. I grabbed my paddle brush and blow dryer and my hair dried fast! One would think that I had applied a fast dry spray. I was impressed with how quickly my hair was dry. I had lovely volume and lift at my roots and crown and my hair felt very light and bouncy. My hair overall didn't feel all that soft, right after I finished drying it, tho it started feeling better after it relaxed in a messy bun for a few hours. Sadly, these products faded my creative colours quite badly. I was taken aback when I saw my hair after it was dry. This, I am afraid is a deal breaker for me.

While I am happy use oils and leave ins to supplement shampoos and conditioners and give my hair additional slip, shine and hydration, I can't bring myself to continue to use products that strip my colours so aggressively. To be fair, this shampoo and conditioner didn't have an adverse effect on my dyed blonde highlights or the darker lowlights, it was just the creative alternative colours I have in my hair that seem to be affected.

I think that this is good shampoo and conditioner. I truly do. I just feel that it isn't the right shampoo and conditioner for my hair. I am going to pass these along to my mother in law. I have a feeling that she will love these products and that they will be beneficial to her.

Have you tried the Keranique hair volumzing shampoo and conditioner? I know that a lot of women really love these products and get wonderful results from them and I don't want my so-so experience to deter you from giving them a try if you have fine and thin/thinning hair. I know. I know. It's only October and for many of us, the weather is still fairly warm. Hell, I haven't even broken out the sweaters, yet. That being said, time flies and we all know that...

Banish Dry Winter Skin with Oz Organics Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter

Winter is fast approaching and with it, cold, dry air, howling winds, low humidity and the various ways in which we heat our dwellings will soon be conspiring to destroy our skin. Winter is brutal! I don't know about you but as the weather cools, my already dry skin goes into desiccation mode. You know those mummies they pull out of the sands of Egypt? Yeah. It ain't pretty. I spend an inordinate amount of my money and time, every Winter trying to keep my skin from becoming an ancient relic. Lemme tell ya, it isn't easy! But it is doable.

One product that helps me banish dry Winter skin is body butter. I was offered the opportunity to try  Oz Organics Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter. At just $14.99 for a huge 8 ounce tube, the price is wallet friendly while not skimping on quality and performance.

Banish Dry Winter Skin with Oz Organics Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter

This thick, rich, replenishing formula drenches my very dry skin with hydrating sweet almond and macadamia nut oils and leaves it feeling soft, moisturized, comfortable and pampered. The creamy butter sinks in readily, it doesn't take forever to rub in, my skin doesn't feel sticky, greasy or slimy. I do have a light film of moisture on the surface of my skin but it isn't a hindrance, I can get dressed right away and get on with my day.

Oz Organics Sweet Almond and Macadamia Nut Body Butter is essentially scent free, so if you are sensitive or don't like scented body products, this shouldn't offend. It also doesn't interfere with any fragrances I like to wear.

OZ Organics is cruelty free. They are also free of alcohol, parabens and sulfates and safe for even sensitive skin types. Needless to say, keep this product out of the way of anyone with tree nut allergies.

Are you gearing up for Winter skin care, yet? Think that you might try this gorgeous, moisturizing butter, this season?

Need More Space? Downsize That Bulky Packaging!

    Downsize That Bulky Packaging!

I adore holiday makeup sets. They are wonderful values and the packaging draws me in, every time but after the initial shine wears off, that bulky, superfluous packaging can often start wearing on my nerves. Take the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Boxed Powder set, for example. Six of Benefit's six most popular powders in a big, cottage shaped tin palette that came out for Christmas, last year. I snapped it up because the price was irresistible for the amount of product being offered and the packaging was adorable. Almost a year later, I am over trying to find a place to stash it. I was rearranging my makeup, the other day and I was yet again, looking for a place for that thing and I realized that I had a medium sized Z Palette lying around. *lightbulb moment* Time to transfer my powders to a more compact, easier to store palette and let the cutsie, bulky packaging go.

What else did I need? Well, something with which to coax the powders from their resting place. After assessing their nest, I felt that a paring knife would probably be the best tool. I have an old one I keep in my little desk drawer as a tool. Perfect! What else? Some alcohol to remove adhesive residue and labels. Hmmm... Don't have any of those lying around but I do have washi tape and a silver Sharpie. Eh... That'll do. Let's get to it.

Depot Bulky Older Holiday Palettes Into Sleek Z Palettes!

I removed the inner thick, dense foam nest that held the powders and the highlighter sample and little brush from the tin, it just popped out as a unit. Then the sample and brush came out easily. I was able to slip the blade of my paring knife in under the powder pans easily because the foam had give, then I just slowly, gently moved the blade along under the pan and carefully wiggled it as I went and the adhesive gave way and the pan popped out, as smooth and easy as you please. Not one of the powders cracked. A little 91% alcohol on a cotton round took care of the adhesive residue on the back of the pan.

Need More Space? Downsize That Bulky Packaging!

I put a little piece of washi tape on the back of each pan and wrote the name of the powder on it for future reference. Okay, I know... I really need different colour Sharpies. And maybe some plain, white labels wouldn't hurt.

Anyway, I'm thrilled with my new palette! Now it slips into the drawer in my makeup case, easy as you please, no more searching for a place to house it. A very satisfying few minutes work, if I do say so, myself.

How do you deal with that alluring holiday packaging after the "Ooo! Shiny!" excitement has worn off? Are you a de-potter, like I am? Or a die hard hang on to the original? Share your thoughts with me?

Osmosis Water Color Eye Shadow Review

In the world of loose eye shadows, Osmosis Water Color is a new one to me. I was offered a chance to try and share a couple of these shadows with you. I have two shades, Onyx and Amethyst.

This formula is different from anything I have ever experienced, before. Not pressed, not tamped, not a mousse or a mineral powder, it is incredibly creamy and silky, almost a liquid/powder, I suppose.

    What Osmosis Says:

So pour on the colors and watch your eyes twinkle.

Osmosis Water Color Eye Shadow Swatches and Details

Swatches of Onyx and Amethyst. As you can see, the shadow forms little balls in the pot, I picked up the shadow in the lids with my finger and used it, from there. This shadow is extremely silky smooth and glides into place. It is best applied with a finger. I don't have a problem with fading or creasing but I don't have oily lids and I use a primer. YMMV, as always.

Aren't these interesting? I have never seen or used anything quite like them! If you would like to experience Osmosis Water Color eye shadows, they come in seven beautiful, wearable shades.

  • Airbrush Makeup is Easy and Fun with Luminess Air

    //sent for consideration//

    Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup System

Luminess Air is fast, fun and easy. No, really! I was skeptical, gentle reader. I thought for sure that airbrushing my makeup was going to be difficult, have a steep learning curve and I was going to end up frustrated, blotchy, covered in foundation in places no one should be covered in foundation and questioning my decision to accept this system for consideration. Happily, I was very wrong. Turns out that with a little reading and a bit of practice, airbrush makeup is very easy to do. Come along and I'll show you why.

Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup System Details and Makeup

First of all, there isn't all that much to it, really. The entire system can fit in a small tote or box. There is the heart of the system, the compressor, a small unit just a bit bigger than the palm of your hand that makes the whole thing work. The compressor propels air through a hose to a stylus or air gun and pushes the makeup in a fine mist spray out onto your skin. Simple, no? On the side of the compressor is a stylus holder. The power cord plugs into the back of the unit and then into the wall. There is special airbrush makeup, pigments suspended in a water based formula that sprays out in an ultra fine mist to form a thin, unbroken layer on the skin and that silky, perfected finish for which airbrush is so famous.

    Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup stylus

The stylus is made of metal and plastic. It is easy to use, easy to clean. Thanks to the design, it is sanitary, you can use it on yourself, others and not worry about cross contamination as you would, with sponges and brushes.

Using the Luminess Air is easy. I practiced on a couple of paper towels hung up on my backdrop for a couple of minutes before I turned it on my face and I was off and running. Plug the power cord into the back of your compressor, plug it into the wall. Grab the makeup you want to use, give the bottle a very good shake, shake, shake. Remember, airbrush makeup is water based and the pigments separate from the base. Now, turn on your compressor, then drop some makeup into the cup on top of your stylus. Hold the stylus about six to eight inches from your face (or a practice surface, which I suggest, first time, out) and gently pull back on the throttle button until you feel air coming out. You won't see makeup, right away. That's okay. just ease back that button a little bit more. And I do mean, just a little bit. You should feel the spray turn cooler as the stylus starts misting makeup along with the air. Move the stylus in a smooth, circular motion as you apply to each area of your face, throat and neck.

As the makeup runs out, you'll feel the temperature change. Just stop, drop in some more makeup and carry on. Do light, thin layers, building them as needed. Apply a thin, even layer and assess your coverage. Is it what you wanted? Then you're good. If you need more coverage, just mist a bit more all over or blend it in areas where you need additional coverage. Remember, work in light layers, stop and look before adding more. Oh! Just so you know... You shouldn't end up with makeup in freaky places. In spite of my being a rank amateur, I didn't have it all over my clothes, in my hair or anything like that, even tho I took it down my neck and did my ears.

    Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup

These are the makeup colours I received. I am not showing any photos of my face in the foundation as the shades I was provided are far too dark and far too yellow/peachy for my skin tone. I will say that the quality of the foundation is lovely. It is very lightweight and comfortable, I didn't feel it on my skin. The formula is free of chemical sunscreen. Once I had the coverage level I wanted, I airbrushed on a little blush and highlighter then set with my favorite setting powder. The finish was smooth and velvety and stayed that way all day. I was so impressed with how the makeup held together. Many long wearing formulas are problematic for those of us who have fine lines and wrinkles. They can crack, fall apart and after a while just look bad. The Luminess Air foundation is flexible and moves with my skin, it didn't crack or break down where I have those annoying lines, wrinkles and little folds and so on. A+ for that! This makeup didn't rub off onto my clothes, cell phone or husband. I have mad bad, allergies and spend the day sneezing and honking and through all of that fun and Kleenex action, none of the makeup rubbed off on my tissues. None. Wow. All of that said, cleansing my face at the end of the day is not a drama fest. My normal cleansing routine whisks the makeup away, my skin feels fresh and clean. No clogged pores or other unhappiness. My only sadness was that the claim that airbrush makeup can cover dark circles is false. I didn't really expect it to cope with my dark circles, but I was king of hoping... Oh, well. You can't have everything.

Cleaning the stylus after use is easy. Just drop a little warm water into the cup, backbubble (instructions are in the owner's manual that comes with the airbrush) then spray the water out onto a tissue or paper towel. I used a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol to finish cleaning out the cup because well... I'm freaky like that. Then just wipe down the exterior of the stylus and compressor and hose with a soft cloth. Easy-peasy. There are more detailed instructions for cleaning the stylus if you experience a clog or spitting, in the manual.

I now understand why airbrush makeup is so popular with makeup artists, brides and passionate makeup enthusiasts. It really is easy, quick, fun to do and gives a lovely, long wearing finish. I need to buy foundations that match me so that I can use my system more often because I honestly like it.

Mirabella Jewel Thief Collection for Holiday, 2015

    Mirabella Jewel Thief Collection
    //sent for consideration//

Steal beautiful eyes and lips, this Holiday season with Mirabella Jewel Thief Collection. Comprised of all new, innovative formula eye shadow palettes and coordinating lip and eye crayons, getting your party face ready is easier, more fun and more glamorous than ever.

    Mirabella Jewel Thief Collection

The three pieces I have are the Blackmail Eye Crayon, the Wanted Velvet Lip Pencil and the Diamond Deceit Second Skin Eye Shadow.

Mirabella Jewel Thief Diamond Deceit Eye Shadow

Diamond Deceit Second Skin Eye Shadow is a unique new formula. Part powder, part silky liquid, this shadow is best applied with fingers onto bare skin for the most intense colour on the eye. I like to use both fingers and brushes. Do whatever feels right... This beautiful quint looks like a pair of earrings in a textured jewel box, it is as beautiful to look at as it is to use and to wear.

Mirabella Jewel Thief Collection Diamond Deceit Eye Shadow Swatches

Here are the colours swatched, on bare, lightly moisturized skin. The ground is a peach/pink. The first top jewel is a silvery with a soft lilac shift. the other top jewel is grey with a lavender shift. The dark bottom jewel is a deep charcoal grey with a blue-y shift and the blue jewel has an aqua/green shift. Wait until you see what else this shadow can do.

This shadow is very silky-soft and smooth. It glides on and is beautifully shimmery but not glittery or sparkly and has a soft duochrome shift. These shadows wear very well for me. I had them on all day with minimal fading and no creasing. I experienced almost no fallout, even when I used a brush with the darkest shadow. I am impressed with the quality of these shadows and I enjoy wearing them.

    Blackmail Eye Crayon

Blackmail Eye Crayon is a deep, dark black eye pencil that can be used as an eye shadow base, liner or as a stand alone eye colour for a hard core dangerous eye look. This eye crayon is waterproof and safe for the waterline. While it looks thick or even a bit stiff in the swatches, this crayon is surprisingly smooth and easy to apply and work with. It gives you a little time to do your thing before it sets in place then it doesn't budge. Happily, it is not obnoxious to remove. I had a lot of this on my eyes by the end of the day and while I had some work to do, it wasn't bad, at all.

    Wanted Velvet Lip Pencil

Wanted Velvet Lip Pencil, described as a creamy, fluid-like texture that glides on, creating a flawless, satin finish with intense, long wearing colour. This beautiful coral berry shade is so flattering and the formula applies smoothly, easily without dragging or tugging. It settles in on the lips and wears beautifully for hours and hours. And, happiest if all, it is comfortable. While not lip balm happy place, my lips were just about as happy when this pencil left them as when it arrived. Impressive.

My eye look is the peach/pink ground blended all over from lash to brow with a soft blending brush. Then the blue jewel, applied with my finger all over the movable part of my lid from the outer corner stopping shy of the inner just up to my crease. I used a small synthetic shader to pick up some of the small, light jewel and applied to the inner corner and faded it back into the blue and around to under the eye just a little. With a soft, pointed crease brush, I picked up the small grey jewel and did my crease and pulled it up onto my orbital bone, blending up softly. I used a very fine crease brush to pull some of the blue under my eyes from outer to inner corner to meet the lighter shade there. Then with my crease brush, picked up the darkest big jewel and softly darkened my outer V and my outer, upper crease, blending it out and under my eye just in the corner. I used my blending brush to be sure there were no harsh edges and everything was soft and finished. I softly lined just along my upper lash line with the Blackmail eye crayon and nearly smudged it away then curled my lashes and applied mascara.

It sounds like a lot of steps but it was actually an easy, quick eye look to apply.

My makeup look, including the Wanted Lip Pencil and the Diamond Deceit Second Skin Eye Shadow. On my cheeks is Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous FlushMirabella Brilliant Mineral Highlighter in Swirling Pearl. My foundation... We'll discuss at another time. I had to seriously tweak these photos, as it is a sample and the wrong shade!

Later, getting on toward the end of the day, I had an impulse. Why not have a little fun? Go a little... Crazy. Do a look that is outside my usual. So I sat down at my dressing table, used a Q-Tip to remove the shadow from my mobile lids, then I smudged Blackmail Eye Crayon on my lid and smoothed and shaped it with a synthetic shader to cover my lid, lashes to crease, corner to corner. Then lined my lower lash line, as well and refined with the brush. Pro Tip: This crayon is very easy to work with, as long as you don't take too long with it. I didn't have any trouble with it, at all. Once I had the shape just as I wanted it, I used my finger to apply the blue jewel shade from the Diamond Deceit Second Skin Eye Shadow all over my mobile lid, inner to outer corner. I wasn't too careful, I just kind of smacked it on. And I was delighted with the result! The blue over the black crayon rendered a gorgeous emerald green! My photographs don't do it justice. You need to see it in person. I picked up the shadow from the dark grey large jewel on a crease brush and splashed it into my crease. Again I wasn't super precise or precious about it. I used a little of the light grey top jewel in the inner corner and along to top of the crease colour. I ran a little of the deepest shadow under my eyes, too. I cleaned up my outer corners a bit with a Q-Tip because it was a little wild. Otherwise, I let it just be... easy and a little bad girl.

Just look at that green! Would you guess that gentle blue, layered over the black would do this? Rawr!

The rest of my makeup needed little renovation. I merely refreshed my under eye concealer and put on some red lipstick. Different earrings, a quick change of hairstyle and I'm ready to go out and tie one on.
