Warm Holiday Metallic Eye Look for Hooded Eyes

The holidays are in full swing and we are all attending parties, special events, family gatherings and we want to present our prettiest and trendiest makeup looks to the world. One makeup trend that surges this time of year is metallic eye looks. They brighten our faces, attract admiring glances and photograph beautifully. Shiny, metallic shadows are perfect day or evening, for just about any situation and every age. Wait! What?? No. "They" say that anyone of a certain age isn't supposed to wear metallic eye shadow! It makes you look older and you are required to wear retiring matte shades, only. Yeah. Right. You know what I say about that. (If you know me well, you know that it's acerbic and rather profane.) Not only can more mature beauties wear shine, we should! Some shimmer and shine is brightening and youthful.

My warm holiday metallic eye look is paired with fresh, flushed cheeks, softly strobed skin and a classic nude lip. All of the products I used for this makeup look, with the exception of my setting powder are available at Ulta Beauty. Read on to see what I used and how I applied it all.

It all starts with skin and for this look I began by applying NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer to lock down my makeup and make it last for hours and hours. I chose to apply a light layer of IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ to even out my skin tone. My shade is Fair.

To help with my insane dark circles I used a combo of IT Cosmetics Eye Lift in a Tube in Light and BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector. While this combo looks pretty good in person, my circles were in charge in my photos and I had to correct a little under my eyes. But not as much as I usually do! I'm getting closer to my goal of a corrected, brightened under eye.

The Pur Cosmetics Cameo Dual Ended Contour Stick in Light: I have a full review of this product, coming soon, if you are curious about it. I used the deeper contour end to lightly shape and the light end on the high planes of my face and blended it all in with the dampened sponge.

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow gives me a lovely, natural pink cheek and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal adds that perfect, strobed glow.

I started my eye look by creating my brows with a little primer and Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe.

Metallic Eyes With Too Faced Stardust Palette notesfrommydressingtable.com

For my warm, metallic eye shadow look I tapped my Too Faced Stardust by Vegas Nay palette. After a little Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer to ensure a long lasting, smooth application I got my warm, metallic eye look going. I started with Golden Nugget on my lid with a flat shader then using a blending brush, I picked up Showgirl and ran it into my crease, blending up onto my orbital bone a bit then deepened my outer V. I used the tip of my shader to run a little more Showgirl under my eyes, stopping short of my inner corner then pulled it up and blended it into my outer corner. I grabbed a clean blender and fluffed Chandelier on my brow bone and #selfie in my tear duct area and blended into my inner corner and a little into the inner third of my crease, to further brighten my overall eye area. I picked up a little extra Golden Nugget on my finger and patted it into the center of my movable lid to up the shine factor a bit.

I took a moment to curl my lashes, then I tightlined with L'Oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Espresso. My upper lash line got a thick, smudged line of Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Oscar Fish, a bronze-y brown with gold sparkle. (Not available on the Ulta Beauty site, any longer. Any bronze-y gold liner will work.) My mascara is one very generous coat of the fabulous Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara.

Nude Lips notesfrommydressingtable.com

My lips are wearing Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream in Nude Beach. A perfect and so flattering nude. This shade has just enough pink in it to prevent the dreaded corpse/concealer lips look that is just not pretty.

What makeup trends are you embracing this Holiday Season? Metallic eyes? Doll like lashes? Snow kissed skin/hair? Embracing any or all of these beautiful trends is easy and attainable at Ulta Beauty. Please share your favorite holiday makeup trend in a comment!
