Snacking on Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara
Is Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara all that and a bag of chips? Curious, I bought a snack size tube to give it a test drive and see if it lives up to it's name and claims.
According to Benefit, this mascara is inspired by hair rollers, imparting super curl and lift to the lashes, giving a sexy, wide eyed look. The patent pending Hook 'n' Roll™ wand features custom designed bristles that catch, lift and curl even short, straight lashes. Benefit claims that you can throw away your lash curler, thanks to this instant, curve setting formula that creates and holds curl for twelve hours. The easy to remove formula boasts lash conditioning properties from Pro Vitamin B5 and Serine.
Benefit lays a lot of claims on a little tube of mascara. Does it live up? Let's take a look. First of all, the packaging is pure pretty. The shiny, black plastic tube is printed in coral pink with the brand logo and name. The cap is a matching rubber, diamond embossed coral pink. So girlie!
Open the mascara and pull out a curved, rubber wand with small, spiky, slightly curved teeth. The formula is low viscosity, deeply black and fairly wet. Thanks to the wand, Roller Lash goes on easily and quickly without clumping.
In addition to correcting my dark circles, I edited the white of my eye as allergy and crap sleep induced redness is not so pretty, in macro.
This is my lashes with one very generous coat of Benefit Roller Lash applied to curled lashes. I have a lot of lid space and hooded eyes, so my respectably long lashes appear shorter than they really are. The mascara applies evenly, wraps each lash for lovely definition and that fanned out, feathery look I love. My natural length is beautifully enhanced but this mascara doesn't give super drama volume. I don't normally wear mascara on my lower lashes because of my dark circles but I applied to my lowers for these photos to show that the wand applies to those lashes easily and without making a mess of it.
Does this mascara curl and hold that curl? Well... No and kind of. I curled my lashes before application, my lashes were not any more curled after I finished than before. Does it hold the curl? Somewhat. While my lashes did lose some of their curl, they retained nice curve and the mascara does seem to lift and make my eyes look a bit more wide open and awake.
My lashes feel soft and light with Benefit Roller Lash. This is a very comfortable mascara to wear. Tho I normally apply one generous coat and call it a day, if I want to build up a bit of additional oomph, this mascara takes to application of a second coat beautifully without turning into a tarantula legged nightmare. I can wear this mascara all day long and it doesn't melt, smear, transfer or flake.
Removal, which I have heard and read can be difficult is a breeze. I have removed this mascara with eye makeup remover, micellar water and oil and in every case, it whisks away without much effort, at all.
I like Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara. I will most likely buy a full size tube, once this snack size is done with. The little one is $12.00 and the full size tube, $24.00. I bought mine from Sephora.
