NARS Under Cover Summer 2016 Dual Intensity Blush in Liberation

//affiliate links in use//

When I saw swatches of the NARS Summer 2016 Dual Intensity Blush in Liberation, I knew that I had to have it. First of all, look at the absolutely adorable box. The Limited Edition packaging is decorated by contemporary artist Konstantine Kakanias and the fun, bright artwork transforms a simple cardstock throwaway into a special, stashable little keepsake. Open the box and out slides a square, sleek black compact wrapped in NARS' signature grabby rubberized coating and emblazoned with the brand logo in crisp white.

I have seen so many pictures and YouTube videos of this product but media didn't fully prepare me for the unique quality of this formula. I lifted the magnetized lid and inside I found the obligatory full sized mirror and in the pans below it, two glowing, almost radiant powder cakes. The surface is pressed with raised lines that break at different angles to create a geometric pattern. Honestly, it took me a while to touch these. I tend to buy new makeup then admire it and keep it as a pet for a while before I dig in to it.

Hey, I never claimed to not be weird.

Anyway, NARS says that the Dual Intensity formula is a "unique, Translucent Prismatic Technology which allows for multidimensional effects." I say that it is a silky to the touch, light as an angel's wing powder that applies and blends smoothly, flawlessly into the skin to deliver fully customizable to my own complexion colour. While the Dual Intensity formula can be used wet or dry, I get the perfect flush using it dry with a soft, somewhat dense synthetic brush. Versatile, the two shades can be used in concert to softly sculpt and blush the cheeks, individually or swirled together to blend my own, unique shade.

Why, hello swatches. These are a little heavy to show my gentle readers just how beautiful the colours are, how the blush, on the skin looks almost like liquid silk. While this can technically be called a shimmer, it is more a lit from within luminosity. The deeper bronzy rose looks more brown in this swatch but blended and sheered out, it is a warm, sunkissed flush. The pink is gentle, innocent with a touch of edge. The finish is that perfect, comes-from-under-the-skin flush.

I get all day, touch up free wear from this blush. Applied in the morning, it looks amazingly fresh when I go to remove it that night. Naturally, YMMV, depending on your skin type, method of application and the makeup you wear under it. I am extremely pleased with my first foray into the Land of NARS Dual Intensity and I am ready to return and experience more. I have my eyeballs on the companion shade to this one and I'm hoping that when I'm ready to purchase it, it will still be in stock.

I purchased this blush from Sephora. It is also available from NordstromLord & Taylor and anywhere else you can buy NARS cosmetics.

Have you tried this blush or any of the NARS Dual Intensity items? Any particular favorites I need to take a closer look at?

Exuviance Glycolic Expert Moisturizer | My Notes

//sent for consideration//

One of my skin's power ingredients is Glycolic Acid so when I received the opportunity to try Exuviance Glycolic Expert Moisturizer I was more than happy to give it a whirl.

From Exviance, the originator of the Glycolic Peel comes Exuviance Glycolic Expert Moisturizer, an effective yet gentle product that combines the power of of 10% Glycolic Acid + Collagen Building Block in a lightweight, elegant moisturizer that works at the skin's surface level to gently exfoliate and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while rebuilding collagen. With consistent use, this product can deliver a softer, smoother, brighter, hydrated and plumped up complexion that has what I like to call "that good glycolic glow."

I use Glycolic and Retinol on alternate days as they aren't meant to be combined. If you are sensitive or a Glycolic newcomer, go in slow. Test first to be sure that your skin will be okay with it then use it once or twice a week, building up to every other day or every day. Glycolic Acid exfoliates the skin and encourages cell turnover which makes it even more vulnerable to UV exposure. Use a good, high SPF sunscreen every day. A big, floppy hat and dark sunnies won't hurt and will further protect your gorgeous, new skin.

Packaged in a smooth, opaque white oval shaped bottle with a pump dispenser Exuviance Glycolic Expert Moisturizer is kept safe from light and air to preserve the efficacy of the active ingredients and assure that every drop is potent and fully effective.

From Exuviance:
  • Glycolic Acid and Collagen Building Block smooth texture and help firm lines and wrinkles
  • Exfoliates and lightly hydrates skin
  • Recommended for normal / combination skin

The texture of Exuviance Glycolic Expert Moisturizer is a lightweight gel/lotion that spreads readily across the skin then drops right in, leaving it velvety soft without any heaviness or oily after feel. There is no real scent, just a whiff of what I would call a clean, slightly medicinal smell. It is very faint and does not linger so if you are scent sensitive or dislike scented products, this moisturizer should work just fine for you.

What surprised me the most about this moisturizer is how well it can hydrate. Formulated for combo/normal skin I can apply serum, this moisturizer and pat a little facial oil on over it and have a happy complexion at the end of the day. It's so weird how some products designed for dry skin don't work so well for me yet this stuff is compatible with my skin type. Just weird. And kind of wonderful.

Aqua (Water), Glycolic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Ammonium Hydroxide, Arginine, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, PEG-100 Stearate, Acetyl Hydroxyproline, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) Acetate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sorbitan Stearate, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Xanthan Gum, PEG-75 Stearate, Disodium EDTA, Ceteth-20, Steareth-20, Polysorbate 20, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

I am such a huge fan of Exuviance Anti Aging Skin Care. Their products deliver real results and my skin is the better for having met them. If you are interested in trying this brand you can order online at Exuviance. They offer three free samples and free shipping on orders over $75.00. If you order over $100 receive a complimentary Exuviance Skin Rise Bionic Tonic. If you would like to buy Exuviance locally, try their Physician LocatorRetail Locator and Ulta Beauty.

It Takes Just a Few Drops and a Few Minutes to Lock Down My Summer Makeup with Luminess Air

//products sent for consideration//

Luminess Air airbrush makeup helps me lock down my Summer makeup look and beat the heat and humidity with weightless, comfortable, long wearing, nearly flawless coverage. I recently received some new products from the Mystic Finish Foundation and Airbrush Essentials Collections and have had a chance to put them through their paces. I continue to be a little mind blown about how easy, quick and pretty airbrush makeup can be! I love how little product is needed to achieve my desired finish and how it wears, all day long even through an Arizona Summer day.

The process is simple enough. After cleansing and basic day skin care I grab my Luminess Air compressor and stylus and get started.

First thing; lock it down. A little Fotoset Primer gently pressed into my skin helps smooth surface irregularities and pores and prepares my skin for a long lasting, heat resistant makeup. Next, I release a few drops of Primer/Moisturizer into my stylus cup and whisk it across my skin, followed by Luminess Porcelain to smooth and further perfect my complexion. I don't always need coverage, if it is that kind of skin day, I can stop here, do my under eyes, apply a little powder and move on with the rest of my makeup application.

If I'm a bit red or blotchy, six drops or so of Eraser helps make it all disappear. I'm still working on getting the perfect amount and application of X-Out on my under eye area. I either apply too much and end up in trouble or it goes on uneven or too little and I don't get the coverage I need. I don't know where my disconnect is with this product... I can say, if I do get it on right, it provides some of the best dark circle correction I have yet to achieve. I'll keep after it.

After prep is done (these steps take mere moments!) it's time for foundation. I received a bottle of Mystic Foundation in MF-1 Porcelain. Hallelujah! Shade match! It's a teensy bit light for this time of year but by the time I fluff on a touch of bronzer, contour and blush, it's great. Porcelain matches my Winter Pale perfectly. I decided to skip bronzer for this picture, to show the shade, as it comes out of the airbrush. Six to eight drops in the cup, a minute or two wafting it across my skin in easy, circular motions and the result is a smooth, even, near flawless finish. I like to set my makeup with powder, otherwise my skin tends to eat it, primer or no. Luminess Pro Translucent Powder in T-1 works just fine. I like the powder but I'm not wild about the attached brush packaging. I'm going to decant it into a clean sifter jar and just use my usual powder brush.

I know that this sounds like a lot of steps but once you get the hang of it, Luminess Airbrush Makeup is so quick and easy, this routine takes just a few minutes and the finish, as I said earlier, lasts beautifully through a long, hot Summer day. Oh! And allergy sufferers rejoice. Tissues are no match for the staying power of this makeup. As long as I don't rub too hard, I don't end the day with a nekkid beak like I can, with other foundations.

I really like how this makeup looks, feels and performs. Yes, I'm still trying to get the hang of the X-Out under eye corrector (I can be a little slow on the upchuck, sometimes) but the rest of it is fast and easy as pie. Have I ever mentioned that airbrush makeup is also a lot of fun? Well, it is. There are, in addition to face products, airbrush eye and cheek colours as well as highlighter. I can do the highlighter okay but the blush or trying to airbrush eye colour? Yeah... Nope. I am severely lacking the necessary talent and end up back at my sink, washing my face. It's fine, tho. I'm perfectly happy enjoying the face basics. It works for me.

Gentle reader, have you tried Luminess Air Airbrush makeup? What do you think of it? Are you as fond of it as I am? Thinking of trying it? Please do tell.

Clarisonic Mia Fit Sonic Facial Cleanser | My Notes

Sonic skin cleansing devices are one of my skin care obsessions. Ever since I got the opportunity to try my first one I have been hooked. I thought I was getting my skin clean with cleansers and exfoliators applied with my hands. Ha! I didn't know from clean until I went sonic.

//affiliate links in use//

I recently won a giveaway hosted by the lovely Norah, makeup artist extraordinaire (seriously, have you seen her Instagram?) and owner of the blog Norah Loves Makeup. The prize was a Clarisonic Mia Fit. I was delighted when I learned that I had won. I have a couple of other conic facial cleansing devices that I very much enjoy and I was excited to try the Clarisonic for myself.

Clarisonic Mia Fit is a cute, compact sonic facial cleansing device that fits into the palm of the hand, tucks into a tote, gym bag or carry on to deliver Clarisonic's gentle yet powerful cleansing anywhere you go. Included is a snack sized tube of Clarisonic's Skin Illuminating Cleanser, a charging cradle and a wall/USB plug in. The Mia Fit is available in pink, pale blue and white.

A Few Research Results:
In a self-assessment on 50 women after 4 weeks, using Mia Fit device with Radiance Brush Head and Skin Illuminating Cleanser:
- 100% claim the regimen effectively removes impurities (dirt, oil, and sebum) from the skin
- 100% agree their skin feels deeply cleansed after use
- 100% say the device fits comfortably in their hand
- 96% have softer, smoother, and more refreshed-feeling skin
- 96% are satisfied overall with the Mia Fit cleansing system
- 94% claim their skin looks more radiant
- 94% say that Setting 1 feels gentle on the skin
- 92% agree Setting 2 leaves skin feeling refreshed post workout

Clarisonic Mia Fit is equipped with internal timers and water resistant, easy to use controls. Hit the power button to turn it on, then the plus/minus button to choose your perfect high or low gentle cleansing level. Setting 1 is sixty seconds long for delicate skin or light, day to day cleansing. Setting 2 is eighty seconds for power cleansing, removing tough sweat, sunscreen and long wear makeup. It's also great for skin like mine, that loves a rigorous cleansing. The timer will guide you to move the brush from one area to your face to another and automatically shuts off when your cycle is over. The Clarisonic Mia Fit is safe to use in the tub or shower; if you drop it in a sink full of water, fear not. Taking care of the brush is easy-peasy. Remove the brush head, give it a quick wash with some facial cleanser or liquid hand soap, rinse and let it dry then pop it back on the unit. Nothing to it.

Okay, I ask you; how stinking cute is the Clarisonic Mia Fit sitting in it's little charging cradle? I mean, really.

What do I love about the Mia Fit? It fits nicely into the palm of my hand and is easy to hold on to and use. The Mia Fit is portable, packable and easy to take with. It has a charger that allows the user to charge it anywhere and everywhere. It can be plugged into a wall outlet or into your tablet or laptop while it is charging so that you don't have to pack an additional converter while traveling overseas. The Radiance Brush Head is soft yet delivers a powerful clean, even deep down into my pores and I can use it anywhere, at my sink or in the shower or bath. I'm not to wild about how much replacement brush heads cost nor that they are supposed to be replaced every three months but I am kind of drooling over the Luxe Cashmere Facial Brush Head. I think I'm going to pick one up because... Cashmere.

I am not a huge fan of the Clarisonic Radiance Brightening Solution Skin Illuminating Cleanser only because I find it strips my already very dry skin. If you are oily to normal or just a touch dry in spots, I think that you'd like this cleanser. It's creamy, provides a beautifully cushioning lather and got my skin sparkling clean. It's just not right for my skin type.

Have you tried the Clarisonic Mia Fit or other Clarisonic facial cleansing device? Are you a fan? Which one is your favorite? If you are thinking of treating yourself to a Mia Fit or other Clarisonic device you can buy them in store and online from ClarisonicSephoraNordstromUlta Beauty and other retailers who carry Clarisonic products.

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Kit | My Notes

There are certain undeniable truths. Air is necessary for life, we all have to pay taxes (unless we are major corporations), tacos are just about the perfect food. And then there is this:
Another truth is that I fall into the latter category. Long story, won't bore you. Suffice it to say that without the old pluck-and-create, my brows are the definition of no bueno. Because I create (or draw on) my eyebrows I am forever researching and trying new products to help me achieve my goal of good brows. How do I define "Good Brows?" Brows that are shaped to flatter the individual's features, are well groomed and while not a perfect match, look as if they belong on the same face. There are a lot of products that can help me reach these #browgoals and I'm going to share one, well a kit, actually with you, today.

//sent for consideration//

I was recently offered the opportunity to test drive and share brow products by new-to-me Chella, a skin care and cosmetics company based in California. The product I received is the Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Kit. Comprised of a brow colour pencil, a brow setting gel, a highlight pencil and a sharpener perfectly tailored to the highlight pencil, this kit is available in six shades from blonde to auburn to ebony so just about everyone should be able to find their perfect match. I chose Tantalizing Taupe. Through trial and error, I have learned that a cool, somewhat ashy taupe is my perfect brow product shade. Sometimes I like to supplement with a deeper shade for additional dimension but for day to day brow biz, taupe is my best friend.

Shall we have a look at what is included in the kit, some swatches and the products in action?

First we have the Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Pencil. This elegant European mechanical brow pencil has a very fine point and a creamy, clingy formula. In my experience, it can tend to leave behind a few teeny-tiny blobs here and there but a quick brush with my spoolie smooths them right away. Smudge and smear resistant, if I apply this to clean skin prepped with a good eye shadow primer, this pencil hangs in there all day for me.

After I create my brows with the Eyebrow Color Pencil I set them with the Eyebrow Defining Gel. Smooth and easy to work with, this gel wrangles what brow hairs I do have right into position and sets them without looking or feeling stiff, flaky or fake-a-loo.

water (aqua), organic aloe barbadensis (aloe vera gel), vegative glycerin usp, carbomer, serenoa serrulata (saw palmetto) extract, pvp, triethanlolamine, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, sda 40 alcohol, tocopherol (vitamin e), matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) extract, laminaria japonica (kelp) extract, symphytum officinale (comfrey) leaf extract

To highlight the brow bone or to help chisel out really "done" brows we have the Latte Highlighter Pencil. This creamy smooth jumbo pencil applies and blends into the skin easily with a synthetic brush or finger. This product wears all day long without fading away, cracking or looking funky. Sadly, Latte is not the right shade for my complexion. It comes off as too dark, warm and peachy on my skin. I think that I would have been much better off with Ivory Lace.

titanium dioxide, iron oxides, rincus communis (castor) seed oil, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, ethylhexyl palmitate, octyldodecanol, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate -2, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, caprylic/capric triglyceride, immondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, cetyl acohol, calcium sulfate, montmorillonite, beeswax, talc, tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, wheat germ glycerides

Lookie! Swatches! Here we have the Tantalizing Tape Eyebrow Color Pencil and the Latte Highlighter Pencil. Tantalizing Taupe looks a little warmer in my swatch then it goes on on my face. The Latte Highlighter Pencil would be perfect for warmer light to light-medium skin tones.

Damn... My hand looked dry in that shot.

The Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Kit in action on my face. I went over the Latte Highlighter Pencil with a little Colour Pop Spoon highlighter to blend it in a little better with my skin tone.

So, gentle reader what do you think of the Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Kit? I have to say, I like it! I could wish that I had lucked into the Ivory Lace pencil, rather than Latte but I'm very happy with how these products apply and perform and I recommend that you give them a whirl. The kit retails for $37.80. I know, a tad spendy but - here comes Beauty Blogger Math - if you bought all four components in the kit separately, you would be on the hook for $59.00. By picking up the kit you save $21.20. That is like getting one full sized product and half the sharpener for free. Yeah!

If you would like to try any of the Chella Brow Collection Products you can find them on the Chella website and at spas, salons and resorts around the world as well as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. Connect to Chella on social media via FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Chella products are cruelty free.

A Smoother Eye Area Can Be Yours with VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask

//product sent for consideration//affiliate links in use//

A smoother, softer, more youthful looking eye area can be yours, tomorrow with the VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask

I am a big fan of eye masks. These contoured to the eye area little wonders adhere to that most vulnerable of facial skin, taking their time to deeply infuse hydrating, depuffing and smoothing ingredients where they are highly desired.

I was offered the chance to try VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask and I have been giving them a good test drive. The difference between these and other eye masks? These go on and stay on to do their job overnight.

Infused with a treatment gel containing Plant Oxygen Extracts, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, Allantoin, Vitamins E and C, these patches are packed with good for your skin ingredients that deliver real, visible improvements in the appearance and feel of the skin under my eyes.

Glycerin, Carbomer, Cellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis, Lavandula Angustifolia, Methyparaben, Propylparaben, Smart Q10, Aqua, Algin, Cellulose Gum, CitricAcid, Sorbitol, SodiumPCA, Butylene Glycol, y-PGA, Sodium Hyaluronate, vitamin E, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ethylbisimino methyl guaiacol Manganese Chloride.

VII-02M-oxygen eye-mask-review

Each foil packet contains one set of easy to use eye patch masks. The white, soft, non woven material masks have a thick layer of a firm gel protected by a clear plastic cover. At night, just before bedtime, I remove the cover and set the patch into place on my freshly cleansed skin under my eye, from the inner corner to out over the "crows feet zone" gently pressing and smoothing the patch to adhere every bit of the surface of the gel to the contours of my eye area. I like to then apply hydrating serum and moisturizer to the rest of my face and hit the sack. These patches stay securely in place all night long. (I don't sleep on my stomach or bury my face in my pillow so I can't speak to their surviving that kind of snoozing.) In the morning, I gently peel the patches away and hello! Smoother, tighter, improved eye area appearance. The skin that was treated feels silky, silky soft, my fine lines and little wrinkles are diminished and the effects last for days.

Okay, there are a few things about these eye patches that require attention. My eyes are very sensitive but as long as I'm careful not to snug these right up against my lower lash line and don't get even the tiniest bit of the gel on my waterline or in the inner corner of my eye, I'm fine. The first time I used these, I did both and I paid the price. My eyes watered, got very red and swollen. I almost didn't try these, again but I quickly reasoned that my discomfort was due to user error and I have suffered no further ill effects.

One of the benefits claimed is reduction of the appearance of dark circles. Sadly, these eye masks do not reduce my hard core dark circles. If only they did! I'd buy every box they make. Seriously. I'd sell my husband to the devil for the money. I didn't really expect these masks to do anything about my dark circles so I'm not disappointed.

Does the VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask work? Yes, it does! Like any topical skin care product, the effects are based on hydration and are temporary but with consistent use, my eye area looks better. At my age, that ain't nothing. Now for the cream; would I buy more? Yes. I feel that these are worth the money.

VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask is available in a six pack box and in a three box set from Amazon and from their website. For news you can use, get social on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Have you tried VII 02M Oxygen Eye Mask? What kind of results have you seen?

Mojo Spa Handmade Cosmetics | Get Your Mojo On

//products sent for consideration//

Have you heard of Mojo Spa? This woman owned, Chicago based company specializes in small batch hand made skin and body care, makeup, soap and candles. I have two products from their line to share with you, today; Diva Lip Gloss and Ambrosia Anti Aging Lip Treatment.

Ambrosia Anti Aging Lip Treatment combines rose wax, rose oil, healing silk powder, colloidal oatmeal, evening primrose and jojoba oils and essential oils to protect, heal and provide anti aging benefits to our delicate lips. This lip balm can be worn alone or under lip colour. This lip balm is thick and feels nourishing but I'm struggling with the rather prominent medicinal, essential oil scent/taste.

Beeswax, candilla wax, rose wax, lanolin, coconut oil, castor oil, evening primrose oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, tamanu oil, red raspberry oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, argan oil meadowfoam seed oil, colloidal oatmeal, silk peptide powder, superfine silk powder, vitamin E, flavor oils (peach, rose), essential oils (rosewood, palma rosa, lavender)

Diva Lip Gloss For Admiration and Respect. A sheer coral gloss infused with a beautiful golden shimmer, Diva Lip Gloss is bursting with shea butter, Vitamin E, coconut oil and organic raw honey. This generous 1/2 oz. pot of gloss is embedded with a genuine Carnelian crystal. This gloss is not scented but there is a gently sweet taste when touched with the tongue. Diva Lip Gloss is lightweight, hydrating, silky smooth and not at all sticky. It's not a long wearing gloss but it is very comfortable and perfect for light makeup days or when you just want a little "something" on your lips.

Candilla wax, coconut oil, lanolin, castor oil, jojoba oil, organic raw honey, vitamin E, mica, ginger essential oil, flavor oil blend

A little swatchie-poo of the Diva Lip Gloss. Isn't it pretty? I love this and I wear it, frequently.
