Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette | My Notes and Swatches

//affiliate links in use//purchases made through affiliate links help support this site//

I have been a fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for several years and I thought it was time that I finally bought my first Anastasia Beverly Hills powder cosmetic product, and boy, is it a doosy! The much hyped Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette has been burning up the Beauty Blogosphere and YouTube for many months and the love doesn't seem to be fading, from what I can see.

Let us begin our exploration of this palette at the beginning. The packaging. For it must needs be addressed. The industry standard sturdy paperboard palette is wrapped in a flocked velvety, grabby stuff that drives me absolutely bat shit crazy trying to keep it clean. I don't feel that saying that I despise the surface of this palette is in any way an overstatement. Really, what were they thinking? I would have done something evocative of an old masters painting, in an easy to wipe clean material. But that's just me.

Okay. Now that we've got that out of the way, let us move on to happier things.

Such as what's contained within. Disregarding the meh, usable enough if disliked double ended synthetic fiber brush that has since received a hair cut, this palette houses a plenty big enough to primp your eye look mirror and fourteen gorgeous eye shadows, each clearly labeled with it's name below.

The Modern Renaissance Palette is comprised of fourteen rich, sixteenth century art inspired colours ranging from soft to deep. There are three shimmers, a soft satin matte and ten matte finishes. The shadows are laid out in a fashion that makes perfect sense to my eye and all fourteen are shades and tones that can mix, match and blend together to create any number of beautiful eye looks from soft and neutral workaday to spectacular works of eye art. Not only is this palette a perfect, self contained unit, these shadows work and play very well with other brands and finishes. The sky is the limit when you have this gorgeous thing in your makeup arsenal.

Swatch-a-Go-Go. These swatches were done on bare, lightly moisturized skin. Laugh at my  incompetence as you glory in just how beautiful these shadows are, even in my crap swatch shots.

Okay, let's talk quality. It is in a word, outstanding. All fourteen of these shadows are smooth, velvety soft and silky to the touch. If a couple are the slightest bit "stiff" it is only in comparison to their contemporaries and in no way denotes a lack of rich, buttery goodness on their part. These shadows are intensely pigmented and they swatch like whoa, as you can see above. They apply, build and blend nearly flawlessly without going muddy or flying away under my brush. I do get a little fallout with a few shades; Cyprus Umber, Love Letter, Venetian Red and Red Ochre can sprinkle a bit so when I want to use those shades, I either hold a tissue under my eye or just do my eyes, first. I honestly don't care about the fallout as the shadows and the looks that can be achieved with them are so beautiful.

I get all day fade and crease proof wear from these shadows, even if I forget to apply primer. I can apply these shadows in the morning and they look just as fresh and vibrant when I go to remove them, at night.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette is, in my opinion worth every penny of it's $42.00 asking price. If something were to happen to this palette, I would move heaven and earth to replace it at once. Yeah. It's that good. And you need it, if you don't yet have it. I bought mine from Sephora. It is also listed on the Ulta Beauty website. While this palette seems to be sold out online, as of right now, there is hope as both sites leave the listing open for future re stock. I have chatted with various fellow beauty enthusiasts who are seeing and purchasing it in store so hit up your local Sephora and Ulta Beauty locations if you don't want to wait for it to come back online.

I need to try some of their highlighter powders, next. I love a good highlighter and from what I've seen, they make a good one.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates. Anastasia Beverly Hills is cruelty free.

Le Mieux | Luxe Caliber Skin Care for Everyday Use

//products provided for consideration//affiliate links in use//purchases made through affiliate links help support this site//

I was recently offered the opportunity to try a new to me skin care line. From Le Mieux Cosmetics comes skin care geared to treat, comfort, protect and improve the look and feel of the complexion. I received three products that were created specifically for dry skin and I have been living with this trio of products for a while and now I'm ready to tell you what I think of them.

The packaging of this skin care line is lovely. Thick acrylic, sturdy glass, clean, elegant lines and a weighty, substantive feel in the hand. These products look pretty on a dressing table or bathroom counter. I know... Pretty packaging isn't everything and I own some damned fine products in bare bones tubes and bottles but I have to admit, my inner magpie is a huge sucker for the pretty. These three products are not highly scented, they have a very light, fresh, almost "pretty" scent that doesn't linger long.

I am an avid practitioner of multi step skin care. I love the ritual, the steps, the time I take to concentrate on my skin and give myself that so important bit of self care. My normal first step after cleansing and an essence or concentrate is serum. Sometimes, I use one serum. More often, I cocktail multiple serums depending on my skin's needs.

Le Mieux TGF - B Booster Serum is rich in powerful peptides, skin nourishing proteins, protective antioxidants and algae extracts that work in symphony to actively hydrate, plump and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This light, silky serum, delivered via a bulb and pipette (a pump would have been a better choice!) slips across my skin, sinks in instantly and leaves my complexion feeling so soft and looking instantly improved.

With Dermal Fibroblast Activators, peptides, hyaluronic acid, a tiny dollop of Le Mieux Eye Wrinkle Corrector instantly hydrates the delicate skin of the eye area to smooth the appearance of fine lines, brighten and tone the skin. While there is a claim that this cream can diminish dark circles, I think that you know what I am going to say about that. Nyet. Nope. Nada. Sorry, Charlie. This is lovely eye cream but my dark circles are still large and in charge. I am not giving up hope, tho.

The final step in this triad is Le Mieux Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream. Rich, deeply moisturizing, this silky cream harnesses hyaluronic acid, peptides and exotic oils to transform dry, distressed skin to soft, pampered, plumped and more youthful looking skin in minutes. When my face is feeling especially dry, tight and uncomfortable, I smooth a little bit of this cream on and gently pat and press it in and the relief is immediate. There is a shiny, moist layer left on the surface of my skin but by morning, it has completely dropped in and my complexion looks and feels like a New Thing. I am so happy to have this cream in my skin care arsenal.

Le Mieux Skin Care is effective and beautiful and it works. Is it The Fountain of Youth? Oh, Honey. No. I'm pushing fifty-two, I don't care what I splash all over my face I'm never going to look twenty-five again. But these products, used in concert with the rest of my routine help my skin to look and feel it's very best for my age and that ain't bad. Not bad, at all. I like what I've tried from this line, so far and I have my eyes on some of their other products.

Le Mieux isn't just for dry skin. They also formulate for oily, normal, combo and acne prone skin types. If you have acne prone skin, check out their four piece Acne System.

Price point is what I consider moderate. These products are not bargain beauty finds but they won't break the bank if you are accustomed to paying whatever it takes to acquire high quality, effective skin care and in my opinion, this serum, eye cream and face cream are worth the asking price.

Defeat Dry Skin and Delight Your Senses with LATHER Lavender Retreat

//products provided for consideration//

The weather is cooling. The humidity is gone and my skin is drier than ever. Bring it on. I've got LATHER on my side.

LATHER Lavender Retreat marries lavender and olive in a two part harmony that exfoliates, smooths and softens my skin while it delights my senses.

LATHER Lavender and Olive Foaming Body Scrub is a unique exfoliation experience. With a soft, earthy olive and lavender fragrance and natural exfoliators including olive seed and walnut shell powders, this bouncy-soapy stuff is the perfect way to slough off the dull, the dry and reveal glowing, fresh skin. I like to gather up a little in my hand, add a bit of water and start rubbing. The cushioning lather cleanses my skin while the scrubby bits gently yet effectively sweep away rough, dry skin then rinses clean without any oily or slippery after feel on the skin or the floor of my shower.

I am a little in love with the texture of this stuff so I had to include a super close up view of the goodness. I hope that you don't mind.

water (aqua), quartz, hydrogenated jojoba oil, juglans regia (walnut) shell powder, hydrated silica, lauryl glucoside, olea europaea (olive) seed powder, glycerin, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, sodium cocoamphoacetate, bambusa arundinacea stem powder, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, vaccinium angustifolium (blueberry) seed, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, sea salt, ficus carica (fig) fruit/leaf extract, olea europaea (olive) leaf extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, polysorbate 80, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, citric acid. *organic ingredient

After I have scrubbed the dry away, it is time to pour on the hydration. LATHER Sofian Lavender Whipped Body Creme is a cloud of whipped shea butter and jojoba and coconut oils infused with delicate Bulgarian lavender essential oil. I adore the way this whipped body creme spreads evenly, drops into my skin, leaving it feeling velvety soft and gently scented with calming, soothing lavender. I can get dressed, right away because this luscious stuff never makes my skin feel sticky or oily.

water (aqua), glycerin, carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil, stearic acid, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, phospholipids, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, ascorbyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-20, dimethicone, sodium polyacrylate, tetrasodium edta, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, hexylene glycol, aminomethyl propanol, carbomer. *organic ingredient

I am so enjoying the LATHER Lavender Retreat. It is the perfect little indulgence to treat yo self to for battling dry skin now and well into the Winter. It would also make a lovely and thoughtful little present for someone special if you are starting your Christmas and holiday shopping lists.

Find this beautiful Lavender Retreat and other gorgeous LATHER goodies for your radiant life at LATHER locations in Pasadena, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, Atlanta, GA, Fairfax, VA and Honolulu, HI. A Matte Liquid Lipstick that Doesn't Murder My Lips -- Could it Be?

I was recently offered the opportunity to try a new to me liquid lipstick brand claiming that their matte liquid lipstick is different from others on the market; that in addition to being highly pigmented, easy to apply, matte and long wearing, it moisturizes and is comfortable to wear. Yeah... Sure. I've heard that one, before. And paid the price for falling for the hype. In spite of my trepidation, I decided to go for it and see if this liquid lipstick lives up to it's claims. Or murders my lips.

//product provided for consideration//affiliate links in use//purchases made through affiliate links help support this site//

On my doorstep landed a Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick. Packaged in an ivory and gold box is a pretty typical liquid lip tube. Clear acrylic trimmed and labelled in gold with a black cap. The shade I received is Pink Sapphire, a bold, intense blue based pink. I was delighted, when I saw the colour as I love bright pinks like this!

Highlight claims that this is a long wearing matte liquid lipstick that is also hydrating and comfortable, thanks to the presence of Turmeric, Green and White Teas, Sea Kelp and a Benefit Peptide. Did it live up to it's many claims? Or did it commit lipacide?

Application of this somewhat creamy/mousse-y, lightweight formula is easy thanks to the flocked doe foot applicator. Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick is highly pigmented, a small amount is all that is required to get full, opaque coverage. The formula spreads smoothly across my lips. Thanks to the applicator, it is easy to get precise placement and I love that I had no trouble evening up my somewhat asymmetrical upper lip without it looking "cheated" or overdrawn. Once the lippie is in place, it sets and locks it's self down for hours of wear. I sported this lippie, the first time for about six hours. How did it do?

Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick hangs together flawlessly for as long as I choose to wear it. The feel is light and flexible and I experience no fading, flaking and only very minimal break apart at the moisture line. This liquid lipstick remains locked down at my lip line, I require no lip liner or barrier pencil and this lipstick doesn't bleed or feather up into those pesky little vertical lip lines. Waterproof and nom resistant; unless I'm chomping on something oily, I don't need to touch up until I'm ready to remove it.

Comfort factor with this matte liquid lipstick is astonishingly good! My lips are exceedingly sensitive and highly prone to dry out. I have struggled to wear lippies that claim to be highly emollient and hydrating and matte finishes are nearly always out of the question, for me. Happily, Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick is a very rare exception. I am so impressed by this liquid lipstick.

Isododecane Cyclopentasiloxane Trimethylsiloxysilicate Beeswax (Cera Alba) Dimethicone Kaolin Disteardimonium Hectorite VP/Hexadecene Copolymer Octyldodecanol Polybutene Silica Silylate C18-36 Acid Triglyceride Propylene Carbonate Phenoxyethanol Stearalkonium Hectorite Ethylhexylglycerin Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Oil Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 Tocopheryl Acetate Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride Laminaria Ochroleuca (Kelp) Extract Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract Camellia Oleifera (White Tea) Leaf Extract MAY CONTAIN: +/- Mica (CI 77019) Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492) D&C Red 27 Aluminum Lake (CI 45410:2) FD&C Yellow No 5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140:1) Carmine (CI 75470) FD&C Blue No 1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090) D&C Red No 6 (CI 15850) FD&C Red 7 Calcium Lake (CI 15850:1)

Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pink Sapphire right after application. I love this shade! It's so bright and pretty yet it's wearable and flattering, too.

This shot was taken after several hours, lots of sluprs of my peach iced tea and a couple of cups of coffee. You can see a little break apart at the moisture line, in macro but at a casual distance, it wasn't visible. My lips still felt good, at this point, as well.

The verdict is clear: Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick is beautiful, highly pigmented, easy to apply, long wearing, not a horror show to remove and amazingly comfortable for even my special snowflake lips to wear. Lip Murder did not happen, my lips live on and I would like another shade or two in this formula. A beautiful red and a great, neutral, nude pink would be nice...

Have you tried Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick? It is available on Amazon if you would like to give it a go. I was able to find about eight shades, including this one. Digging them up was a bit of a pain in my ass and I think that the listing could be improved to make shopping and finding the perfect shade faster and easier. Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick is made in the U.S., is Cruelty Free, Gluten Free and Paraben Free. This product is not Vegan.

If you have had difficulty in the past with matte liquid lipsticks because of the dry out factor, I recommend that you give Highlight Matte Liquid Lipstick a go.

A Spa Day in a Jar for My Face | Farmhouse Fresh Peat Perfection Enriched Peat Purification Mask

Skin care is one of my great beauty passions. Thanks to a good deal of effort and the right products for my own skin, my complexion is the best it's been in many years. One of the procedures that aids me in caring for my skin and keeping it fresh, clarified, hydrated and glowing is masking. In my own not so personal opinion, masks are an essential part of any good skin care routine and I have quite a few in my collection from which to choose, depending on my needs, at that moment.

//product provided for consideration//

Farmhouse Fresh Peat Perfection Enriched Peat Purification Mask is a spa day in a jar for my face. When my skin is feeling congested, dehydrated and just... blah, it needs special care and pampering. Because my skin is very dry, I have to be careful to balance it's need for clarifying and purifying with hydration and rejuvenation. Happily, this mask can do it all.

Okay, one thing I really love about Farmhouse Fresh is that a lot of their packaging is reusable. Case in point, this perfect little glass jam jar with it's metal lid. When this mask is all gone (and I have shed bitter tears at our parting) I can wash it and reuse it for storage of little incidentals and sundries in my studio.

Glass and metal are recyclable so when I decide that I'm over them, I can easily toss these jars in the recycling bin so that they can be repurposed. It's a small thing but if we all made an effort to keep even a few things out of the trash, think of how much less landfill and Pacific trash vortex there would be.

The first time I opened my jar of  Peat Perfection Mask I was expecting a muddy, rough, textured substance evocative of blocks of peat. What is in the jar is a dark, murky green, smooth mud. It came to me with a good bit of liquid floating so I grabbed a clean orangewood stick and gave it a good stir to get this silky stuff.

When I apply a mask, I like to scoop what I'll need from the jar, at once with a clean synthetic paddle brush, deposit it on the back of my hand and from there, smooth it all over my freshly cleansed face. The immediate feel is gently cooling and refreshing and there is a light, freshly earthy aroma with a hint of clay and a zephyr of something... Minty/menthol-y. The scent isn't strong and it does dissipate so I think that more sensitive beauties will be fine. Now, I grab a book or plop down in front of my computer or TV and relax for twenty minutes, or so. After the mask dries, I use a wet face cloth to remove it, leaving my skin looking and feeling fresh, glowingly clean, hydrated and comforted.

Derived from 95% natural ingredients, Farmhouse Fresh Peat Perfection Enriched Peat Purification Mask is free of sulfates and parabens, is vegan and gluten free. Farmhouse Fresh is cruelty free. A 3.25 oz. jar is $30.00 and renders 14-18 applications, washing out to about two dollars per use. That is an excellent value for money for such a beautiful and effective treatment.

You can connect socially by visiting Farmhouse Fresh on Facebook, following on Twitter and of course, stalking them on Instagram.

Personally, I can't get enough of this gorgeous brand. I have, so far loved everything I've tried. What are your favorite Farmhouse Fresh goodies?

Gentle Care for Your Beautiful Coloured Hair with DermOrganic

//products provided for consideration//affiliate links in use//purchases made through affiliate links help support this site//

I am a fan of the DermOrganic hair care line so I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity to test drive and share with you my thoughts on their new Color Care Line. Comprised of three products and formulated specifically for more delicate, colour treated tresses, these products gently cleanse to maintain colour integrity, deeply hydrate and protect strands from heat styling and environmental stress.

DermOrganic Color Care Sulfate Free Shampoo is a gentle, 70% organic creme shampoo formulated with skin care ingredients, lipids and a low PH that delivers a soft, cushioning lather to cleanse completely while protecting against colour fade. Softly scented with a soapy-clean, slightly sweet almond fragrance, this shampoo is as easy on the senses as it is on my tresses.

Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua/Eau/Water, Disodium Cocoyl Gluta-mate, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Methyl Gluceth-20, Organic Argania Spinosa Argan Kernel Oil, Rice Amino Acids, PCA, Panthenol B5, Organic Helianthus Annuus Sunflower Seed Extract, Organic Vitis Vinifera Grape Seed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Organic Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Orange Peel Extract, Organic Chamomilla Recutita Matri-caria Extract, Organic Cucumis Sativus Cucumber Fruit Extract, Organic Salix Alba Willow Bark Extract, All Natural Preservative Propanediol/Phenethyl Alcohol Aromatic Extract/Benzoic Acid Food Grade, Parfum/Fragrance.

DermOrganic Color Care Conditioner  is formulated with 72% organic ingredients including moisture packed lipids and hydrolyzed rice protein to hydrate, soften, detangle and reduce flyaways. Natural solar shields help to protect hair colour from UV exposure and fading. This rich, creamy conditioner spreads readily to saturate every inch of my hair. Comb out with conditioner in is good, not quite hot knife through butter but not bad, for my wurly, tangle prone tresses. Rinse out is fast and easy and my hair feels cared for and hydrated but not heavy or weighed down. There is a light, sweet, softly almond-ish scent that is pleasant but not overwhelming that doesn't linger for long.

Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua/Eau/Water, Caprylic/Capric Trigly-ceride, Stearalkonium Chloride, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Organic Argania Spinosa Argan Kernel Oil, Panthenol B5, Rice Amino Acids, Methyl Gluceth-20, PCA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Organic Helianthus Annuus Sunflower Seed Extract, Organic Vitis Vinifera Grape Seed Extract, Organic Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Orange Peel Extract, Organic Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria Extract, Organic Cucumis Sativus Cucumber Fruit Extract, Organic Salix Alba Willow Bark Extract, All Natural Preservative Pro-Panediol/Phenethyl Alcohol Aromatic Extract/Benzoic Acid Food Grade, Parfum/Fragrance.

DermOrganic 8 Way Thermal Spray hello to 73% organic ingredients, detangling, heat protecting, makes my dried out hair feel like silk, smells like old school Jergen's cherry almond goodness. I minimize heat drying and styling but I always treat my hair to as much nourishing, caring stuff as I can possibly get away with piling on to it. This spray in treatment allows my comb and brushes to glide while Argan Oil, moisturizing EFA Lipids, and restorative Rice Amino Acids help protect vulnerable strands from heat up to 450 degrees.

Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua/Eau/Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Stearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polyquaternium-10, PCA, Organic Argania Spinosa Argan Kernel Oil, Methyl Gluceth-20, Rice Amino Acids, Panthenol B5, Dimethicone, Organic Vitis Vinifera Grape Seed Extract, Organic Helianthus Annuus Sunflower Seed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Organic Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria Extract, All Natural Preservative Propanediol/Phenethyl Alcohol Aromatic Extract/Benzoic Acid Food Grade, Parfum/Fragrance.

Reveal a More Perfect Complexion with StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate

//product sent for consideration//affiliate links in use//purchases made through affiliate links help support this site//thank you//

Multi step complexion care routines are being embraced by more and more skin care aficionados. One step in these involved routines is an essence or concentrate. Used before a serum, concentrates deliver potent skin transforming ingredients where they are needed most to help refine texture and even the skin tone.

StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate has been a first step after cleansing for me for the last little bit. The benefit claims are big:
Refine texture and imperfections to restore the visible qualities of perfect skin. This potent, non-acidic skin-renewing formula restores the visible qualities of healthy skin to unveil a perfected complexion. Formulated with a complex of five powerful enzymes, this ultra-lightweight concentrate gently removes dead surface cells and promotes skin renewal for improved texture and clarity. Patented NIA-114™ technology helps strengthen the skin barrier while delivery of moisture throughout the night leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated. With continued nightly use, the most micro of imperfections are refined, for skin that is visibly transformed even under a close-up lens.

Does this concentrate live up?

Packaged in a small plastic bottle with a dropper pipette delivery is a low viscosity, white liquid that spreads readily across the skin, drops in immediately and leaves behind no sticky or oily after feel. As soon as it absorbs, my skin feels smoother and more velvety and ready to accept the rest of my skin care routine. In the morning, my complexion feels more hydrated and a little firmer.

What long term benefits? My skin seems even just a bit brighter, the overall tone more refined and the appearance of my skin is improved. I think that it's safe to say that this stuff works.

Aqua (Water, Eau), Squalane, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Bromelain, Ceteareth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, Papain, Tocopheryl Acetate, Myristyl Nicotinate, Hydrolyzed Opuntia Ficus-Indica Flower Extract, Mucor Miehei Extract, Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Yeast Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, r-Bacillus Licheniformis Keratinase, Soy Amino Acids, Lecithin, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Oleanolic Acid, Superoxide Dismutase, Xanthan Gum, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sorbitol, Carbomer, Algin, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Solum Diatomeae (Diatomaceous Earth) (Terre de diatomées), Disodium EDTA, Tromethamine, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Methylisothiazolinone.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette | My Notes and Swatches

//affiliate link in use//purchases made through these links help support this site//thank you!//

I fell victim to the hype surrounding the Tarte Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette and I'm not really mad that I did. This slender, enameled look gold tone palette ads colour and sparkle to my makeup case or the top of my dressing table and holds three beautiful powders that perfect and light up my complexion.

Three finely milled, silky soft powders in Sunlight, a soft luminous champagne gold; Filtered Light, a delicate matte sand and Moonlight, a gleaming rosy pearl. All three powders deliver a subtle, whisper effect rather than a full on, high beam shout. Not that I object to a good, high beam shout but sometimes, the whisper can speak just as clearly.

Swatches in order in the palette: Sunlight, Filtered Light and Moonlight. Aren't they pretty? I like these powders on my fair skin and I think that they'd be gorgeous on deeper skin tones, as well.

The Tarte Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette is listed on the Tarte website. Tarte is Cruelty Free and many of their products are Vegan, as well.

Do you own this pretty palette? How do you like it?

LORAC PRO 3 Eye Shadow Palette | My Notes and Swatches

//affiliate and referral links in use//purchases made through these links help to support this site//thank you!//

Lorac released another Pro eye shadow palette and I for one am enjoying it.

The long, slim, slightly rubbery feeling paperboard palette is a light buff gold shade to evoke the soft shades, within.

Below the slim, perfect for close ups on the eyes mirror are sixteen eye shadows in gentle neutral shades. As with all Lorac Pro palettes, the top row is matte shades, the bottom, shimmers. The shadows are all laid out in a manner that makes sense and makes creating a beautiful eye look easy and intuitive.

Here is a close up of the shadows. These soft, gentle, neutral shades are right up my street. I enjoy a good smoky eye and sometimes, I like to play with colour but the majority of my eye looks are neutral and well blended out, making this palette just the thing for me.

Here are the swatches. (hangs head) of the sixteen shades in this palette.

Overall, the quality of the shadows is on par for the Lorac Pro palettes. The mattes are soft, creamy and smooth. They tend to be powdery, but the pigmentation is very nice and they are easy to build and blend on the eye. The shimmers can be a little flaky but they are velvety and pleasant to work with and I don't have much trouble with fallout.

Amethyst and Jet Black are not the best shadows in the bunch; they can be patchy and give a little trouble and honestly, I feel that a black shadow is out of place in this palette. Also, this is just from my personal point of view, I don't need purples in every palette, either. I feel as if makeup companies use purple as a crutch. Oh! We need another colour for this palette! What shall we do? Stick a purple in it. Who cares if it works with the other shades or is any good?

Medallion is pretty and sparkly but it's sheer and a bit flaky. I need to be be sure to use a good primer under it to give it stick. I like to dip it up on my finger and pat it on to add a gentle sparkle to my lid.

Did I need this palette? Do I ever need a palette? I enjoy acquiring Lorac Pro Palettes and I get good use out of this palette so I'm happy that I picked it up. If you are in to deep, intense or bright, colourful looks, this isn't going to be the palette for you. If you like soft, blended neutral eyes, grab this baby, I think that you'll really enjoy it.
