In the land of splurge lives the mythical Sunday Riley Flora Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil. I featured this product in my Sephora VIB Sale Wishlist post. At the time I wrote it, this product was still living la vida wishlist and, while I very much wanted it, I was going back and forth between this and a very spendy Natasha Denona eye shadow palette. After much dithering and deliberation, I decided to split the difference, buy this oil and a smaller eye shadow palette. Two beautiful products for me and I spent less money.

When it arrived on my doorstep, my Sunday Riley Flora Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil presented in a gorgeous, monolith of a heavy card stock box.

Slide the lid up and off to reveal a custom molded, velvety base that snugly cradles a beautiful, rectangular glass bottle with a gold trimmed dropper top.

Lift out the heavy, glass bottle and... Oh my! It's so pretty!

I can't get over this beautiful bottle and I had to add this extra shot of the graduated pink toned glass. Doesn't it look like a jewel? I know. A pretty bottle isn't the best reason to spend so much money on a face oil but what can I say? I'm just superficial enough to admit that I love fabulous packaging and it can feature into my decision making process. I figure that after this oil is used up I can always wash the bottle out and use it for something else. A different oil... convert it to a tiny flower vase... Whatever I decide, the bottle will continue to delight.

I suppose that I should stop nattering about the damned bottle and get down to the real reason why we are here; the contents within. Sunday Riley Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil is a lightweight, pale green-gold oil created to nourish and deeply hydrate dry skin and it's anti aging properties are perfect to integrate with other skin care products to amp up potency of actives for optimal skin beautifying results.

A blend of nourishing Russian, Turkish and Bulgarian Red Roses contain powerful anti oxidants that protect skin from environmental damage and provides anti aging benefits, reducing the signs of premature aging.

Rosehip Oil provides Trans-Retinoic Acid (Retinol, baby!) that aids in skin regeneration, gently exfoliates and refines texture and tone.

Pomegranate Seed Oil is a rich plant source of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (Super CLA) to help support skin's natural ceramide synthesis and retain moisture.

Chia Seed Oil is the richest botanical source of Omega 3, a powerful source of Alpha Lipoic Acid, proven to help reduce the appearance of signs of aging.

The fragrance is not, as I had hoped, of rose. This oil has a light, organic, "crunchy" scent with the barest zephyr of rose, somewhere off in the distance. The scent is not powerful and it does dissipate quickly. Sunday Riley Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil is Vegan, Gluten Free and Hypo Allergenic, it is made without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates and is Cruelty Free.

Ingredients:
Rosa Centifolia (French Rose De Mai) Oil, Rosa Damascena (Bulgarian Rose Otto) Oil, Rosa Damascena (Turkish Rose Otto) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oil, Cymbopogon Martini (Wildcrafted Palma Rosa) Oil, Persea Americana (Organic Avocado) Seed Oil, Punica Granatum (Organic Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Organic Wild Carrot) Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica (Organic Chia) Seed Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Organic Tomato) Seed Oil, Rosa Mosqueta (Organic Rosehip) Seed Oil.

How does this oil perform for my Sahara Desert dry, maturing skin? Very well. My first test put this oil through it's paces, hard core. I cleansed my skin then I applied the oil as the sole product to see if it could live up to it's lofty promises as well as it's lofty price tag. The dry oil formula drops into my skin and immediately goes to work, hydrating and softening my face. I can use this right up to my lash line all the way around without irritating my very sensitive eyes or making them feel greasy or cloudy. The feel, after a few minutes is plumped and velvety smooth. My eye area has that silky, cool feel of well pampered skin.

I left this oil in place to do it's thing for a full twenty-four hours without disturbing it. I know... Gross. But I really wanted to push this stuff and see what it can do. After all of that time, my face still felt hydrated and soft and bonus points for the gently firming sensation that doesn't quit. I can use this face oil as a serum, before other skin care or pat in a little on top of my face cream as a moisture boost. I can also mix it in with my foundation to give me that lovely, youthful dewy glow. My overall assessment is that the Sunday Riley Flora Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil lives up to it's billing. I am enjoying it and I am happy that I bought it.

There are four different Sunday Riley Face Oils to cater to every skin type and complexion concern. I'm not going to lie, these oils are not inexpensive but if my experience with the Flora is indicative of how all of the oils perform, they are all well worth the asking price and you should get one.
