Just Another Mani Monday - Testing Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat

//affiliate links are in use//shopping through these links doesn't cost you anything extra and I earn a small commission that helps support this site//

You know that my love for Seche Vite is real. Has been for years. I try other top coats, enjoy them then I go back to my Seche Vite because it is just that good. Well, there's a new sheriff in town and I'm crushing, hard. Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat is everything I love about Seche Vite; the way it sets down that big, silky bead, floats up the nail, melting and smoothing minor imperfections, uneven areas and even killing surface bubbling. And let's not forget that incomparable, glossy shine as well as the fast dry, hard cure that I depend on to get my manicure done and get on with my day in record time.

Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat does all of the above and it has one important advantage over it's close cousin. Wear time. My natural nails just don't hang on to polish well. They never have, no matter what kind of base coat, polish or top coat I've ever used. If I get three solid days of no chip wear out of a manicure, I do a happy dance. Seche Vive has helped to extend my average polish life from two to three days to an impressive to me four to five days. I honestly don't mind sitting down and changing my nail polish but if I have a shade on my tips that I'm particularly enjoying and want to wear it another day or two, Seche Vive can help me do just that. And that ain't bad.

Polish is Seychelle and accent nail art is all six shades from the LVX Luxury Nail Lacquer Spring/Summer Collection.

I love how easy this top coat is to use. I apply it just like I do good old Seche Vite, it dries fast then cures hard like a gel, no UV lamp needed. Don't worry. I have no plans to abandon my beloved Seche Vite, it's just too good. I've merely added a new member to my top coats I can count on family.

Have you tried Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat? What do you think of it?

Cleanse and Exfoiate the Natural Way with Derma - E Skin Care

//products discussed were sent to me for editorial consideration//affiliate links that cost you nothing extra and help to support my blog are in use//

I so enjoy Derma-E skin care. They recently sent over a package that contained a product I'd really been wanting to try and one tried and true blue favorite, both of which I am delighted to share with you, today.

Derma-E Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil is a lightweight mix of  Jojoba and Argan oils with a delicate, natural rose scent that cleanses away makeup, dirt, oil and leaves my skin feeling clean, petal soft and hydrated.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Organic Simmondsia Chinese Seed Oil, Organic Argania Spinosa

Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil is so easy to use. If I'm wearing makeup, I always remove it, before cleansing but this cleansing oil can remove makeup, if you prefer to wash off your makeup while cleansing. I dispense a dime sized pool into my hand, then work it into my skin, including eye area and lids for about sixty seconds or so then I add a little water and keep working, as the oil becomes a light, creamy emulsion. When I'm ready to rinse, I grab my face cloth, get it wet with very, very warm water, squeeze it out and lay it on my face to gently steam my skin for a moment then I use the cloth to sweep away the oil, any left over makeup residue and my day. Pat gently dry and my face is ready for the rest of my skin care routine.

The rose scent sticks around while cleansing but it isn't strong and it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes.

Got dry, flaky patches, uneven or bumpy texture or skin that just doesn't seem to be slurping up the skin care the way it should be? A good exfoliation with Derma-E Microdermabrasion Scrub with Dead Sea Salt may be just what the doctor ordered.

Water (Aqua), Magnesium Oxide, Silica, Volcanic Sand (Pumice), Pearl Powder, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Glucoside, Glyceryl Stearate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Juice, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Orange) Oil, Glycerin, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride, Glycine, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) (Vitamin E), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexl Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate.

Microdermabrasion Scrub with Dead Sea Salt comes in a frosted glass jar (honestly, I'd prefer a squeezie tube so that I could take it in the shower with me). This scrub consists of fine grain dead sea salt and volcanic sand scrubby bits in a smooth, lightly tropical scented base. The beauty of this scrub is that I can adjust the amount I use and the pressure/length of time I work it into my skin to get anything from a gentle polish to a down and dirty power blast exfoliation. The scrub then rinses clean away and my complexion is glowingly fresh, silky smooth and ready to receive the delicious ingredients that my skin craves.

Derma-E Natural Skin Care is beautiful skin care that delivers real results at a more wallet friendly price. You can find their products at Ulta Beauty, CVS, Walgreen's as well as Whole Foods and Sprouts natural food stores. Derma-E is eco-ethical beauty that is cruelty free, vegan and GMO free. Derma-E formulates without the use of petroleum products, sulfates, artificial colours, parabens, gluten or soy.

Are you a fan of Derma-E? What are your favorite products from this line?

LVX Luxury Nail Lacquer - Spring/Summer Collection Review and Swatches

//product was provided to me for editorial consideration//

So... This is posting a little late and for that, I'm sorry. I've been having, how can I put this nicely? Nail issues and they have just come back round to minimal acceptable swatching condition and length.

LVX Luxury Nail Lacquer is a cruelty free, 7-Free formula nail polish that delivers rich, saturated colour, smooth application and (in my personal experience) good wear, even on natural nails. Today, I have the Spring/Summer 2017 Collection to share.

LVX (pronounced "luxe") is contained in chic, square bottles with a removable cap to make application easy and comfortable. The brush is flat, wide and well trimmed for precise application and control.

All six polishes were swatched over base coat and finished with a glossy top coat. Thanks to my stupid ridgy nails, I added a ridge filling base under some polishes to give a smoother, more opaque finish. My ring nail is an easy-peasy floral  dotticure using all six polishes.

Ready to take a look?

Let's begin with Coquillage. This delicate, ultra soft pink creme was completely opaque in three coats on my ridgy nails. The formula is a dream, surprising for such a pale pastel.

Camilia is a bold, strawberry pink creme. Two coats renders perfection.

Schiaparelli is an intense raspberry pink creme that is perfect in two effortless coats.

Reine is the perfect name for this glowing royal purple. How did they get that luminous shift without adding shimmer? This swatch is two coats. Magnificent.

Argonne is a rich military green creme that is flawless in two smooth coats.

My personal favorite of this gorgeous collection is Seychelle. This glorious delicate turquoise creme evokes everything we love about summer in the islands. This smooth creme is impeccable in two coats.

All six lacquers have a silky formula that sits sweetly down where it is placed, whispers up the nail without dragging, pulling, running or flooding my cuticles. I did experience some bubbling on the first coat of the lightest shades but I don't think that the polish was to blame. I tend to apply thicker coats and on the day I swatched, I was running the air and a fan which can muck with application. Dry time, especially with a quick dry top coat is downright respectable and I get a solid three to four days of nearly chip free wear which is impressive for my polish shedding natural nails.

I am so impressed with my first experience with LVX Luxury Nail Lacquer. The bottles are good looking, I love the removable cap that allows for easy application and the smooth, impeccable formula and I can't wait to try more shades and finishes from this lovely brand.

Perfect, Soft Beachy Waves are Made of Sugar

//product provided to me for editorial consideration//

Summer is the season of the soft, beachy wave. Fast, low maintenance and as pretty as a sunny day at the shore, beachy waves are a style that works well with my thick, wurly hair. Beachy waves are a cinch to pull off and I can wear my hair down down, in a half up or even in a casual updo and no matter how hectic my day, how hot, humid or windy it gets, my hair looks "done" but not fussy.

The magic of beachy waves is found in the styling product used to achieve them. Now, we all are familiar with salt sprays and unless I'm missing my guess, you probably have at least a couple of them knocking around our hair product baskets like I do. Salt spray makes creating the perfect, blowey waves easy but salt can be a bit drying and leave my hair feeling a tad... Crunchy and a bit build-uppy/grungy when the waves bite the dust and I brush my hair out for it's bedtime updo. Yuk.

I was recently introduced to fabulous, longer lasting, natural looking waves and wurls, softer hair with less frizz and stiff feeling in the form of Sugar Texturizing Spray from a new to me hair care brand No. 4 High Performance Hair Care. You guys, where has this stuff been all of my life?!

It's easy to get my soft, pretty beachy waves; after washing or just wetting my hair down with a spray bottle of water, I add some leave in, lightly oil my length and shake my hair loose at the roots with my fingers to separate and let the curl and clump process begin. Then I grab my Sugar Texturizing Spray and mist my hair, lifting it from the ends and dropping it into the spray and finish up with an additional spritz to my canopy. A little scrunching, all over and twisty-twisty of random locks that need some encouragement and I'm done but the air drying. Which kind of takes forevah... I really need to get a diffuser for my hair dryer... It's so hard to keep my fingers off of my hair while it dries! If it's not up, I'm constantly fiddling with it and that's a huge no-no while curls and waves are drying if you want to avoid frizz and girl, I will do anything to avoid frizz! The end result, if I have applied my product properly, used just the right technique and the planets align is soft, defined s-waves and lovely, loopy spirals that last until I brush them out.

Sounds nice, huh? Trust me, if you have naturally wavy or curly hair or want to fake it, you need Sugar Texturizing Spray

No. 4 High Performance Hair Care is cruelty free, vegan, gluten and paraben free. The sulfate and salt free formulas are gentle to hair and can help preserve colour. I like this sugar spray and I'd love to try other products in this line. What about you? Have you tried? Think that you might like to?

Heat Proof Summer Makeup for Dry and Maturing Skin ~ Makeup Wars

//products provided for editorial consideration//self purchases//affiliate links that don't cost you anything extra but help to support my site, should you choose to use them, are in use//

The heat is on! Dude... It's hotter than the hinges of Hades, here in Arizona and summer is just getting started. On top of trying not to bake to death in this heat, stay properly hydrated and protect my delicate, flower face and the rest of me from the intense rays of Old Sol, there is the additional challenge of keeping my makeup intact through a long, hot day. Lucky for me, I've been living here, in the Southwest for a long time and over the years, I've learned what products to use and how best to apply them for a glowingly fresh, melt proof finish that lasts for hours and hours.

Some of my best tips for looking just made up hours after I walk out the door are:

Lock it Down! I use primers and setting sprays to make sure that my carefully applied makeup isn't going to slide off my face or simply fade away.

Layer it Up! Light, even sheer layers building up coverage just where I most need it and letting my skin shine through where I don't need as much, keeps me looking fresh and polished as the sun and temperatures rise.

Scale it Down! I like to use lots of products as well as anyone but when it's 100 + degrees and I'm already feeling prickly and stuffy, a pared down routine is best for my look, my skin and my sanity.

Don't Fight the Glow! Let's face it, when it's hotter than Satan's ball sack, some sweat and oil are going to happen. Yes, even to a dried out old hag, such as myself. Instead of driving myself crazy trying to prevent it, I exploit it by amping up the radiance with softly luminous colour cosmetics.

Some of my summer favorites. And... A couple of much wanted wishlist items that I just know would work beautifully for me.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is one of my all time favorite things, ever. Sadly, I've gotten to the point that it's not hydrating enough for me in the dead of winter but it still works a treat this time of year to keep my foundation smooth and in place.

Speaking of foundation... Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick. Holy shit, this stuff is good! In summer, I like to buff it in with it's matching brush, sheering it where I don't need so much coverage and building it up in light layers where I need a little more. I like to then meld it all together and refine it with a damp Beauty Blender. This foundation is perfect for my dry, maturing skin because it gives me the adjustable coverage I need, isn't drying and it doesn't settle into my wrinkles (yes, I have a few *le sigh*) or those annoying tiny fine lines around my chin and mouth that can make the wrong foundation and my face look like forty miles of bad road.

Creme blush is next, for me. I have a couple of beautiful ones that I very much enjoy but I'm finding myself seriously craving the NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm. I haven't tried it, yet but I just know that it would be darling on me.

Highlighter is one of my makeup addictions. It is up there with eye shadow palettes for me. I only own one creme highlighter, right now but I'm thinking that I really. Really. need to add the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer to my little makeup family. What do you think? Is it a must have?

It's no secret that I create my brows from scratch. When it's hot and, during the Monsoon, humid as fuck, I rely on Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe. I have other brow pencils and powders that I like and enjoy; Brow Wiz remains my holy grail, reach for it when my brows must not fail pencil.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour is a gorgeous, apply in a trice, last all day creme shadow pencil that can be used alone as a wash of colour all over my lid or combined with other shades for a more intricate look. I love how this shadow looks, on and that it never creases, smears or fades, even when I have a blonde moment and forget eye primer. A darker shade, smudged along my lash line lets me forgo liner, which I often don't feel like futzing with when my eyes are unhappy, thanks to allergies.

When it is time for mascara, I need a solid performer that won't smear, transfer or flake all over my face. One of those solid performers is my trusted old pal Tarte lights Camera Lashes 4-In-1 Mascara. Long, fluttery, voluminous lashes. What more could I want?

Now is when I gently buff on a light layer of powder. My go to is NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. Why now? Well, because my next step is a powder bronzer. I haven't yet met a creme or liquid bronzer that I like so powder it is. I love NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder. It is the perfect summer bronzer. Not too dark, not orange-y, softly radiant... I can imagine that I almost have that J-Lo Glow, almost, when I'm wearing it. Now you can see why I apply a little powder first. In my experience, this bronzer works best on a set face.

When it's hot and stuffy, I like a softly glossy lip that is quick and easy to apply and retouch and doesn't feel goopy or slide off. NARS Satin Lip Pencil is a no brainer. It is easy to toss in my bag and I can even smack it on without a mirror, if I need to and I know that I won't look as if I applied it while riding a roller coaster.

Last step, is a setting spray. There are a bunch available. Urban Decay Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray is that final, refreshing Lock it Down step that knocks down any powdery-ness, enhances the glow of my highlighter and adds a little more hydration to my dry skin.

I know that this reads like a lot, but when it's in the process, it's actually very quick, once I get my dark circles and brows sorted. And my makeup really does look fresh and intact, all the long hot day. I just get a little more glow-y as the day progresses. Not a bad thing, really. Glow is youthful, luminous skin is always in fashion.

I hope that you find my tips and suggestions useful and that you enjoy a gorgeous, melt free summer. If you did like this post, I'd love it if you'd share it! Don't forget to read my fellow Makeup Wars bloggers' posts. They all have great tips for various summer makeup challenges.

Nimni Cream from HydroPeptide

//product provided to me for editorial consideration//all opinions are my own//

I recently got the opportunity to try a new to me moisturizer from HydroPeptide and today, I'm going to share my early thoughts on it with you.

I was excited to try Nimni Cream and I've been using it for a few weeks, now. This pretty little blue jar comes with some pretty hefty claims.

This patented support complex is formulated with specialized ingredients to offer significant improvement in skin's fullness and elasticity. Patented Collagen Support Complex and time released Retinol and antioxidants hydrate, firm and help restore some of the fullness lost with aging.

This fresh-herbal scented, thick cream drops quickly into my skin and makes my very dry skin feel so hydrated and soft. I can even use this as a night cream. Astonishing for such a lightweight cream and I can feel a subtle firming effect. Do I look ten years younger? Well... Nope. I didn't expect to and to be honest, I've not been using this cream long enough to know if I am going to see appreciable, long term results but I'm happy to keep using it to see what transpires.

If you're interested in trying this cream, yourself you can buy it here.

Have you tried this anti aging cream?

Experience the Complexion Magic of Hyaluronic Acid with Jan Marini Hyla 3D HA Activating Complex

//product provided for editorial consideration//affiliate links that, at no cost to you help support my blog are in use//

Hyaluronic Acid is one of my skin's power ingredients and for very good reason and Hyla 3D HA Activating Complex delivers the goods thanks to eight key ingredients:
  • Liposomal Encapsulated HA
  • Cross-Linked HA
  • Ultra-Low Molecular Weight HA
  • Traditional HA
  • Tissue Respiratory Factor
  • HA Booster
  • HA Peptide
  • Coenzyme Q10

As we age, our skin starts to lose the essential elements normally found in young, healthy skin. One of those elements is Hyaluronic Acid, which leads to loss of volume and firmness. Jan Marini Hyla 3D HA Activating Complex helps to enhance and boost natural occurring Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate, replenish fullness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Now, I don't know about you but these are benefits that my skin can use!

This serum is formulated to work for just about every skin type; oily, normal, dry... Even sensitive and acne prone. If you have younger, more oily skin, this serum may be the only moisturizer you need. If, like me you have dry skin, this serum is amazingly hydrating. Seriously. I can apply this stuff, a light moisturizer that I would normally not use and my skin is baby soft, plumped and comfortable all day long. And this serum is so silky smooth and feels so light that it's gorgeous under makeup. Oh! for night, I pair this with my beloved Sunday Riley Flora Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil and my complexion is singing an aria.

So, what's in this stuff that makes it such a boon to my face? Well, here are the ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Oligopeptide-24, Ubiquinone, Calcium Ketogluconate, Peucedanum Graveolens (Dill) Extract, Panthenol, Lecithin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Tocopherol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Phosphate, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Oleate, Citric Acid, Isoceteth-10, Silica, Lactobacillus Ferment, Alcohol, Hexylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol
Patent Pending.

It is important to follow the dispensing and application directions on the label. Trust me, they aren't there, just for fun. If I forget or neglect to follow the directions, I notice a difference in how this serum applies and performs.

Have you tried Jan Marini Hyla 3D HA Activating Complex? This is the second product from this skin care line that I have had the opportunity to experience and my assessment is that this is solid, results oriented skin care that delivers and I'd love to try more of this line.

New! The JessxIttse Glambition Collection Blush and Highlight Palette - Photographs and Swatches

//products were provided to me for editorial consideration//all opinions and words are my own and wholly uninfluenced by the company or PR//referral links from which I receive no benefit are provided//

When I learned that fellow beauty blogger and social media goddess Jess, the brain and heart behind Love for Lacquer had teamed up with cosmetics company Ittse (pronounced it-see) to create a blush and highlight collection I was so excited for her. Jess is a wife, mom, blogger and she is building a social media empire, on her way to total world domination. It makes perfect sense that she would pad her already impressive resume with her own custom makeup collection.

I am so thrilled that Jess included me in this launch and I can't wait to show you what arrived, yesterday.

As they landed on my doorstep, the four piece blush and highlight collection and customizable magnetic palette. The outer packaging is done up in a theme of coral, gold, grey and dreamy bokeh. There are stars, Ittse's headquarters, the City of San Francisco's skyline, quaint Victorian houses, tea pots and cups, a simply adorable Great Dane and free spirited, pretty girls. Every tiny detail is perfectly attended to, making opening and exploring these pieces so much fun.

The same two packages, back view. There is an introduction to the collection from Jess, pictures of the makeup items and product details.

Just look at the outer box for the makeup pans. These hand drawn Victorian row homes make me want to pack my boxes and run away to the City By the Bay! I have a small connection to San Francisco; my mother grew up there and when she took us kids to visit her beloved City, I was enchanted. It is truly a beautiful, interesting place and I'd love, one day to return, spend more time and really explore what it has to offer.

I tried so hard to get a good photo of the message on the back of the slip sleeve so that you could easily read it but my poor old camera just couldn't get there so I decided to type it up.
This collection represents all the powerful and strong women who are building empires, chasing dreams (in high heels, of course) and who rise, shine and hustle. Through every failure, you will always have a reason to get back up. Dream big, work hard, stay focused and make it happen! XO, Jess

Okay. When was the last time you bought makeup in individual pans that was this sweetly, cozily wrapped up?

When you purchase the Glambition Collection Quad, the individual pans come in these lovely little cardstock slip cases with a cute girl and the most snuggly adorable Great Dane flanking the gold trimmed opening that reveals the plastic encased beautiful colour within. Also included is a romance card with Jess's picture, a greeting to her customers and some hints and tips for using your new face colours.

Here are the four generous size pans in their coral enrobed, customizable magnetic palette in the shade Anemone. There is plenty of room for me to pop a few more pans of shadow, blush... What have you in with them. The mirror in the lid is a good size for polishing my look, making this the perfect little travel palette.

I love the names that were chosen for these colours. They are fun, inspiring and completely of the moment.

The quality of this quad is just lovely. These powders to the touch are soft yet firm, not hard or chalky, not so fragile that it feels crumbly or flaky. The texture is rich and buttery smooth. They swatch up like a dream and apply with ease, buffing into my skin without streaking, skipping or sending fallout everywhere. #GirlBoss blush renders a natural, from under the skin look flush and the highlighters look like liquid silk when whispered on with a fan brush. I haven't had a chance to wear these long enough to know if they fade but so far, they are intact hours later so I'm going to guess that I'll enjoy all day wear from this blush and highlight formula time after time.

#GirlBoss is a beautiful peachy-coral with a nearly hidden floating gold shift. This is the kind of shade I was born to wear! I am coo-coo for coral and this blush makes me very happy.

Hustle and Glow is a warm, golden gleam.

Run the World is a champagne shine that seems to have been created for my fair skin and renders a youthful, lifting light from subtle to "see it from space" intense.

Goal Digger is a delicate, high shine rose pink. Highlight, blush topper, even an eye colour, I think I'll get a lot of use out of this pretty stuff.

I am so impressed with the quality of the makeup and the palette and I whole heartedly recommend that you snap them up on Ittse's website while supplies last!

Have you tried Ittse cosmetics? Have you picked up this collection? Please do tell.

Ittse Cosmetics are cruelty free, paraben free and gluten free.
