Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fussy | Does it Live Up to the Hype?
I fell for the hypeI've been hearing so many raves about Fenty Beauty and I decided, when I made my latest Sephora order to buy an item from the line and see if it lives up to the hype.
what is it?
I decided to buy the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, a multi tasking lip gloss and balm in one beautiful and hydrating formula. The shade I chose is FU$$Y, a medium nude pink that I felt would flatter my fair skin and let's be real here... It's pink. Since when can I resit a pink lippie, I ask you.
A lot of claims are made on behalf of this gloss bomb:
- it delivers an explosive shine that feels as good as it looks
- the three shades are universally flattering
- one swipe from the XXL applicator leaves lips looking instantly fuller and smoother
- contains shea butter to condition lips

about the packaging and applicator
The packaging of the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb -I'm not typing out that whole, long name, every time. Nope. Can't make me. And why the hell do cosmetics companies have to saddle their products with names so long that they put books like War and Peace to shame?- is lovely. The tube is heavy, clear acrylic in the shape of a hexagon with a delicate rose gold tone cap. I love this rose gold, it isn't too dark, bright or garish, it is elegant, grown up rose gold.
This delicious peach-vanilla candy scented gloss is delivered to the lips on an extra, extra large soft flocked doe foot applicator that picks up a gracious plenty of the product and effortlessly smooths it onto my lips in a few quick swipes without having to keep dipping in over and over for more product. Wear time is about standard for a lip gloss - not stellar. I don't mind, I am one of those odd ducks who honestly enjoys the little ritual of touching up my lips.
oooh! shiny! and pink!
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb is that perfect, cool-neutral medium pink that I am instantly drawn to with a beautiful silver fleck shimmer that sparkles and throws multicoloured sparks in bright light. Up close, close you can see the tiny silvery flakies but they don't feel gritty, on. My lips love this formula; it feels so silky-soft and smooth, cushioning and very hydrating but not in the least bit heavy or sticky. My lips look ultra shiny, pillowy soft and "plumped up" thanks to the optical illusion provided by the shine and silvery shimmer. After wearing it all day, my lips feel moisturized and happy and not in need of rehab with days of lip balm.
Like any lip gloss, this one does settle the pigment into lines in my lips. It's unavoidable, I'm in my fifties and my lips have more lines in them than they used to. The settling isn't obvious at a casual distance but I honestly don't care; I'm going to wear what I want and enjoy it, even if it doesn't stay Photoshopped picture perfect smooth, the whole time. If you're going to get up in my grill close enough to see the pigment in my gloss separating and settling a bit, you have a bigger problem than my lip lines.
the bottom line and where to shop
I adore the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in the shade FU$$Y and yes, I think that it lives up to the hype. This gloss/balm is the perfect for me, my lips but better neutral pink, smells divinely delicious, is ultra shiny and so comfortable to wear, all day long, alone or over lipstick. The $18.00 for 9 mL/ 0.3 fl oz is worth it, in my opinion. I'm happy that I bought this lip gloss, I'm enjoying it and I'd buy it, again when this tube runs out.
Have you tried this gloss? Do tell, I'd love to hear what you think of it.
