Trying Out the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder
As an avid fan of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, I was intrigued by the new-ish Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder and I really wanted to try it out but I wasn't interested in blowing $46.00 on a powder that my skin might not like. Happily, they have a travel size for a very reasonable $20.00 so I bought the smaller one and got to trying it out.
what it is...The Veil Translucent Setting Powder is a silky-soft, finely milled powder that, like the Ambient powders has light reflecting particles that not only perfectly sets my makeup, it makes my skin look smoother, helps to blur imperfections, and subtly diminishes the appearance of fine lines and pores.
how I like to use it...While I like this powder for all over my face, it is so delicately soft, lightweight and has that whisper of natural radiance that makes it work beautifully for setting the corrector/concealer under my eyes. At my age, the job of colour correction, concealing and setting it all to make it look as smooth and bright as humanly possible while minimizing fading, creasing and everything settling into the fine lines under my eyes is a delicate balancing act, indeed.
What I appreciate about this powder, in particular is that, after I apply the creme products I want to, I can let it sit a bit, settle into my line and crease collection, gently tap it all smooth with the tip of my finger then, with a small, very soft brush whisk the tiniest bit of this powder over my under eye area to set it all. Now, I'm not going to bullshit you by saying that my skin stays looking perfectly smooth and devoid of creasing all day - wouldn't that be a dream - but, when it does start looking a little careworn, all I have to do is gently tap it smooth, again. The Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder is fine and lightweight enough to just go with the flow, rather than looking cakey, cracked and dried out.
the bottom line and where to get it for yourself...
I like the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder, $20.00 for .07 oz or $46.00 for .36 oz at Sephora. While it's nice for all over setting, I tend to only use this powder for lightly setting my under eyes so I think that the travel size that I have is going to last me a long time and I'd not hesitate to buy it again, when this elegant little jar runs out.
